Re: BrownHill First Game
I think he’ll get into our first eleven before the end of this season, but be introduced off the bench for the first month or so.

Re: BrownHill First Game
Isn't Westwood close to a suspension due to his yellow card count,i can see Brownhill coming off the bench at Southampton, the winter break will help him settle in,the good news is at long last we'll have midfield options to choose from, for the 1st time since i can remember.

Re: BrownHill First Game
If Josh Brownhill times his first appearance in the same way that James Tarkowski and Nick Pope did then he will be another "good'n."
Let's hope it's because Sean's choosen to put him in the team and not an injury to another player that gives him his first start.

Didn't Pope start due to an injury to Heaton though?

Re: BrownHill First Game
I think he has been bought to fill Hendrick's slot when he leaves in the summer.

Re: BrownHill First Game
Unless Hendrick is playing that well we can't drop him we should be looking at getting Brownhill in before the end of the season. No point in picking a player who will be gone in the summer. As the end of the season gets closer its only human nature that Hendrick's mind will start to be elsewhere and be thinking about avoiding injury before his summer move.

Regardless of Hendrick's attitude, the sooner we start preparing for next season the better. I like Hendrick but if he's off in the summer there's no benefit in playing him if we have a suitable alternative.jrgbfc wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 7:07 amUnless Hendrick is playing that well we can't drop him we should be looking at getting Brownhill in before the end of the season. Hopefully this season. He is fit keen and hopefully raring to go. Let's see what he is made of. Let's face it wide right is an area we need some flare.

Re: BrownHill First Game
We should be busting a gut to get Hendrick to sign a new contract,or the signing of Brownhill and Hendrick leaving would just put us back to square one a midfielder short, would love to see Hendrick stay hes a very underated player.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 7:19 amRegardless of Hendrick's attitude, the sooner we start preparing for next season the better. Probably get a on the pitch once the coaching team think he is ready, when he has earned it and when there is an opportunity for him to improve the team.

Re: BrownHill First Game
I think this is right. No reason for him not to make an appearance, he's played regularly all season so will be fit, I think he will be involved straight away.

I would hope he will be on the bench Sunday and when we are 3-0 up with 10 minutes to go will be brought, on as IanMcL says, to say hello.

Not by me Steve mate. Love him. Like the Brownhill signing but given a choice of him coming or Hendrick going I'd sooner Hendrick stay. We need to pull out all the stops to keep him.

Re: BrownHill First Game
Will be interesting to see if this signing brings Hendrick into line...as with the Gibson/Mee situation a while back.
I dont buy all this tripe about Hendrick getting a raw deal from the fans btw....its baloney...hes paid as a pro footballer not a snowflake. Derby fans were pretty meh about him and I think there will be plenty of dry eyes around the turf waving him off.

Re: BrownHill First Game
SD doesn't do changes if the team are getting results, so hopefully May.
More likely on the bench for Bournemouth, then await circumstances.

Re: BrownHill First Game
The OP says the first, first team appearance - as in, starting 11.
That rules out Sunday, although I think he has every chance of getting on late in the game for 5-10 minutes.

Why not this weekend. He’s fit and in form. If he gels in training then get him in.

Re: BrownHill First Game
You should know by now that SD doesn't work like that. If Cork/Westwood were to get a late injury, sure. But he'll have to earn his place in the starting 11, especially after our 2 previous wins.TheOriginalLongsider wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 10:36 amWhy not this weekend. He’s fit and in form. Re: BrownHill First Game
I reckon this weekend in the 82nd minute and get the equaliser on the 86th, and winner in the 93rd.
That's not expecting too much is it?

good point about Hendrick - probably one other way us fans can influence club positively - if we got behind Jeff by singing his name for a few weeks , he might sign an extension.

Re: BrownHill First Game
Hi C&J, yes, indeed he did and it has worked out well for Nick Pope and Burnley, but not so well for Tom Heaton.... Hence, why I'd like to see Josh Brownhill in the team when SD chooses, rather than because either Jack Cork or Ashley Westwood picks up an injury.

Re: BrownHill First Game
picking when he starts a game for the 1st 11 is a bit like the lottery, and I never win that.
this could be a weekly thread though, will he play our next game, will it be substitution or as a starter.
I'll say he wont start the next game and won't be a substitue

OK Frank
to be precise, I think he will make the bench, but he wont come on the field to play as a substitute

Re: BrownHill First Game
I'd prefer we kept Hendrick. My post was under the assumption he'll be leaving and if that is the case , we're better off playing with a team who will be here next season.
