Their solution would be to prosecute the case in Germany. They aren’t going to change their constitution just because of Brexit, nor are Austria is Slovenia.
That's a very unwieldy solution. Where do you have the trial if a German and an Austrian worked together? Or if two Germans are suspected of a crime but one has fled the country and the other hasn't?

The reason I kept mentioning Switzerland (which has not just left the EU) was because this particular issue is not a Brexit issue. It's a German constitutional issue that has been running for some time, and they have long decided that German citizens should not be routinely prosecuted for crimes abroad. Which seems odd.

I would be interested to know whether this particular prohibition arose before or after the EU was formed.

The trial is in the country they are arrested in. Google “extradition from Germany after Brexit” lots of articles.

I have read the Twitter rubbish and it is so easy to guess age and background of the tweeters, they studied after the curriculum change, they have no close contact or memories of a family loved one that fought and suffered in the conflict that staved off an evil regime that said DO AS WE DO, BE AS WE ARE OR DIE and the educational indoctrination has left them inept. They will accept the new era or wither.

That's the point. If two men are accused of committing a crime together, I doubt you could have a fair trial if one of them is tried in Germany and the other in Britain. I'm not saying that's not how it is; just that it's a daft system.

As I suspected, the lights are still on, aircraft are still flying and all my food is still fresh.
Well of course, because we've very sensibly avoided a "no deal" brexit.
We've got 11 months now - or an extension (most likely IMO) - to unravel almost 50 years of legislation and protocols, and ensure an orderly exit.
Some things - such as flying - should be easy to agree, but other things are far more complicated.
It will be a challenge to meet the end of 2020 deadline in all areas, but I fully expect some provisional deal (at least) to be in place by Dec 31st. [The trade deal may take longer].

Thank you very much for your comments. Genuinely appreciate them.

We're out of the EU and January is finally over, it's a grim month, and it's just started to stay that bit lighter around 5 o'clock when we're going home from work hasn't it. Which is always a welcome sight!

As I've said previously, 3 points off Arsenal,(finally) tomorrow will make it a weekend to remember and get February , and our future outside the EU, off to a flyer !

The average IQ in this country is 100, which isn’t much, and half of the population are below that but the thing about democracy is that wether your IQ is 70 or 170, your vote counts just the same. I’m sure I could trawl the cess pit that is Twitter and get similar stupid comments from remainers, but I’m not that immature. It is what it is, so get on with it and stop remoaning.

Aww don't be getting all offended now petal. I tend to call people thick when they show themselves to be thick.

I've had some good conversations with thoughtful leavers on here who I respect and who help inform my views. Unfortunately they tend to be in the minority.

I've just seen what must be a famine relief plane flying above Burnley. I'm assuming a Red Cross or government plane thats bringing much needed supplies into our post Brexit country. As, if what the remoaners were saying is true, all passenger planes will have been grounded since 23.00 hours last night!

Also, I'm dreading seeing the disturbing scenes of the , upto , 45,000 dairy cattle that are being slaughtered due to concerns about the Irish border, that the BBC reported last year. That's going to be horrific.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-north ... d-49274874

I havent been resting on my laurels though. Hell no! I've filled the garage up with a many barrels of water as I could to prepare for the imminent water shortage, now we've left.

I dont want to get too smug or complacent. It's the extra 850,000 unemployed that, 18 months after the referendum that we were promised by the treasury, I feel for.

Spare a thought for those Nissan workers who have lost their jobs since the Sunderland plant closed. (It has, hasn't it!?) Those Siemans workers who, similarly, have been made redundant, since the German engineering company relocated to mainland Europe. (Its what the remoaners said would happen so I presume it now has!)

Also, think of all those who's pensions have been affected since the stock market collapse, ( that definitely happened didn't it !?) thanks to us voting to Leave. And all those who've seen the value of their home shrink since the , promised by remoaner experts, housing market crash.

It's a pity the likes of me didn't listen to those who were far far far more enlightened about what would happen just by virtue of voting to leave. Then showing pure insanity by going through with it a d actually implementing the largest single expression of democracy this nation has ever witnessed , and actually leaving the EU.

Had we, we wouldn't have turned this once great nation into this desperate 3rd world hell hole over night , as we have just done!

No point sitting here full of regret. I'm off out now. A neigbour has just told me that the UN and Médecins Sans Frontières are opening a rice distribution program outside the Bob Lord Stand. Apparently, their going to use The Turf as a food storage and distribution hub, as all football and premier league has been cancelled for the foreseeable future. The Champions League was one of the earliest casualties to go thanks to us leaving the EU. As was the UK taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest.

What have we just done!!??

;)

I file RingoMcCartney alongside Katie Hopkins...

Happy Brexit Day everyone...

Believe it or not you can be right wing, support Brexit and think Katie Hopkins is vile.

Thanks DA. Proves you can be on opposite sides, politically and still have a bit of banter without resorting to insults.
Right Thicko? 🥰

Talking about yourself in the third person is never a good sign.
You're probably right to be fair.

But, when I do it, I've enough self awareness and objectivity to realise that there's a gaggle of posters that I've clearly needled since the referendum result.

Sad really.

Seems you're all sorted Ringo. I'm still in the cellar trying to find the dried rations I stored because of millennial bug. We're doomed, doomed I say.

Too right I am pal. It wasnt too tricky making suitable preparations for this self imposed act of "self harm"

I've took inspiration from you tube clips from how people cope with economic catastrophe.

I've seen how they manage in Venezuela!!

I think I'm at least a few weeks away from eating the dog!

As someone slightly to the right politically, old fashioned ed Tory, I absolutely detest Hopkins. The trouble is people rise to her vile outpouring and give her the oxygen of publicity. At the opposite end we have the d.h. who attacked Alistair Stewart and all white men. Both are inadequates who need people to respond to them. IGNORE THEM and they will go away. Right Eddie and Andrew.

What is it about TRANSITION PERIOD that Ringo and his ilk don’t understand? We are still paying the EU and we are still ruled by them!

We elect a government to make decisions. To entrust such a monumental decision to the populace with well below average intelligence is not at all wise. This is demonstrated quite clearly by the fellow in the first clip who, like probably about 99% of leavers, think that by voting the way they did, they would limit muslim immigration. He was okay about Europeans coming here but just didn’t want anymore Muslims. That is why he voted to leave Europe.

Oh, and by the way, you spell ‘whether’ with an ‘h’ and, not as you have done, ‘wether’, without.

So welcome to today .
Got a text from a pal at work who young Daughter broke her glasses and headed down to Specsavers this morning .
So my mate asked the lady in there can you fix them ? Hummm she yes we can , it would have taken 4 days days but because of Brexit it will take 5 weeks now .
Yer right that's what i said also , now he had to pay €130 for new glasses that will be ready on Friday .
Makes you wonder where they came from .
Watch out for cons everyone .
