Maybe Taylor was a good goalscorer but I wasn't looking back through a slight tint, it is a genuine memory from a game I was talking about - I was sat in the Jimmy Mac Upper at the time.

But as for Moore in general, he seemed to be famous for his pace but I don't recall him outpacing many people.

I think that he was with us long enough to have time to prove himself. It was a shame for all parties that it wasn't so fruitful.

Moore when he arrived was like lightening... had he been able to get his confidence up with a few early doors I think we’d remember a very different player. I also remember many many Burnley fans wanted his Dad Ronnie to manage him here.

Seem to remember his dad was Rotherham manager when Ian was playing here.

To be fair, we've had many worse players than Moore here. I think it's more the price tag. If he was half the price or less, we'd probably view it differently but the large amount we paid for him and the fact he was picked ahead of Payton weighed heavily on us all.

Ronnie did some decent jobs but Stan was outstanding for us. I never had eyes for Ronnie myself. I was sad to see Stan go but it was probably the right decision.

Perhaps his purple patch was at Stockport directly before, but he scored some very good goals for them and perhaps they utilised him better. It’s all there on YouTube, so I can understand what Stan saw.

Definitely had something about him, and think his biggest problem was staying too long at Burnley and losing a lot of confidence.

He doesn’t need one !! if you haven’t noticed whatever the topic or subject matter he will try and get in a dig at the club and his perceived lack of spending....and it doesn’t matter how many times you try and explain to him the financial reality he develops some kind of number blindness.

That was Liam Robinson in the mid nineties.

As for Moore, he was half decent for a time. Didn't he get around 15 goals in 01/02? In the first half of the season, when we were top, he and Taylor was the perfect little and large partnership. Scored some crackers for us too - the ones at Preston, Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday spring to mind.

As a 14 year old at the time (where does time go?), the signing was so exciting to me and I remember thinking “Wow, we’re really in the big time here”.

It’s fair to say Moore wasn’t a great or even good player, but I think it a little harsh to say he was crap. For two seasons or so he was a 1 in 4 man-ish for us and was a big part of the team that almost the Play Offs in 2001 (He got 14 that season).

As his time went on at Burnley he became worse and worse though and certainly I remember the threads on Clarets Mad between 2003-2005 about him were scathing. Particularly when he was shunted onto the right wing and basically couldn’t be bothered/seemed visibly lazy.

We had the best of him and the worst of him. Whilst he was certainly a disappointment overall, I’ll always have a slight bit of affection for Moore for being the first big transfer to signify our long term ambitions were to get into the Premier League.

Seem to remember his 1st goal was at PNE away. We were sat in the wooden stand and he cut in from the left and stuck one in the bottom corner. We lost 2-1. Could be wrong though... any one else confirm or deny...?
