Clear Red
Re: VAR at it again
I don’t even know what the actual rules are nowadays but I don’t think he went in maliciously.
Plus, it was only on Dele Alli.

Like you, I don't know what the law is any more. I don't think that's a red though. He gets the ball, doesn't quite catch it cleanly, ends up standing on Alli's leg. It's a nasty collision but neither malicious nor reckless.
I'm not partial to either player so I think I'm unbiased.

Thought he'd broken Ali's leg!........Definite red, then the non-penalty FFS.

Why was the city player sent off, are shoulder charges banned now. It was clearly shoulder to shoulder,I’d have been really pleased with myself if I’d been the defender.

You can't just barge into someone, even with your shoulder, in an action unrelated to chasing the ball. Never have been allowed to.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 6:16 pmWhy was the city player sent off, are shoulder charges banned now. Keeper on the line at a penalty is not VAR reviewable.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 5:26 pmand the fact that Loris is a yard off the line when he saves the first one

I suggest it would be more shambolic if Friend starting making up the regulations as he went along.

That must be a PL thing as it is in every other competition it's used inthatdberight wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 6:20 pmKeeper on the line at a penalty is not VAR reviewable.

Bundesliga as well. IFAB weren't impressed but it hasn't changed yet.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 6:26 pmThat must be a PL thing as it is in every other competition it's used in
Re: VAR at it again
No, shoulder charges are still legal - and just as it always has been, you need to be within playing distance of the ball when it happens. If the ball is five yards up the field, then only players with legs 15 feet long may do it!elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 6:16 pmWhy was the city player sent off, are shoulder charges banned now. If it wasn't for this "playing distance of the ball" rule, then the chaos at corners would be even worse as a phalanx of attackers shoulder charged the defenders to allow their man a free header. Might suit Burnley!

Re: VAR at it again
Thought the ball was in playing distance... thank God it didn’t matter so much when Billy Hamilton was carrying three defenders and barging through the rest of the team on one of his rampages. But fair enough.dsr wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 7:48 pmNo, shoulder charges are still legal - and just as it always has been, you need to be within playing distance of the ball when it happens.
