Danny Ings

Post by Tricky Trevor » Wed Feb 05, 2020 9:20 pm

Scores another at Spurs. Not something we do but we have to man to man mark him.
He gets so far away from the Central defenders but once he has the ball at his feet his pace and movement make him scary to defend against.
Yet again Saints looking a good team.

He’s having a fantastic season. I’d like to see him in the England squad this summer.
Although with his injury record it might not be best for him long term.

Saints will be a hard nut to crack that's for sure, amazing after their dire showing 1st game of the season, but they've certainly turned it round, and they have many potential matchwinners not just Danny.

They have suffered a blow tonight JWP has gone off with a serious looking knee injury, doubt he'll feature against us now.

2-2 and ET looming

We coped very well against Aubameyang without having to man mark him and he's a top striker.

Ings' goal, Saints 2nd, was a real cracker. Set up by a fabulous run by Redmond
from almost his own penalty area, a great ball to Ings who had taken up a decent
position and he dinked past a Spuds defender at speed and guided the ball into the
net, just inside the right hand post.

A real cracker of a goal as I've said.

We coped so well he should have had 3 and lay one on for Lacazette also he is a different style to Ings.

3 -2 to the referee
Robbed by a very dodgy decision

It's great to see him recovered from his injuries and finally showing his class, hope he draws a blank in his next outing however. ;)

Clearly should be playing for England on current form - but am sure Tammy will be ahead of him in the queue. Southgate will choose from the big clubs every time.

Ings is good and so is Redmond, who always causes us problems. But we can get something down there.

Does anyone know if VAR was being used?

It was for the game at St Mary's and if it was tonight must have been Jose controlling it.

Great move that probably deserved a third goal but that penalty was given without any contact made whatsoever.

No VAR and so Sons dive wasnt spotted
Never a penalty Saints cant defend though and that plus Ward Prowes injury and absence is why we will win

VAR shambles again. They probably slowed it down to show the slightest of touches. No way is that a pen. Absolute disgrace. Another very basic decision messed up.

The real annoying thing about it, after watching it back, is that Son could've easily scored had he stayed on his feet but his first thought was to go down. It's this type of incident that I wanted VAR to be introduced for in the first place, to tell the players to play with honesty or you'll get caught cheating. All it has done is in reality is reinforce the cheating by telling them that as long as there's the faintest of touches VAR will support your cheating.

Danny Ings has scored 17 goals in all competitions in 2019-20, the most by a Southampton player in a single season since 2013-14

...(also 17 - Jay Rodriguez)

About five minutes earlier, Son did that infuriating waving of a card action after he'd been brought down fairly innocuously. Dived for a penalty.
Emirates Man of the Match, yeah, that's about right...

I was talking to a saints fan at the start of the season. He said that most of his mates would happily have let Ings go back to Liverpool in the summer. They were a bit gutted that they had to fork out 18 million for him. I reckon they've changed their minds now.

Re Dodgy result its Media darlings right to win a trophy according to Deli Alli
Spurs have a right to win .No they dont and Saints injury to Ward -Prowse coupled with poor defending by Saints and a non penalty stole the tie
Danny Ings is on fire but Saints still have defensive frialities which we will exploit to win at St Mary's
