Not quite true. Novacyte , a UK company have a 2 hour test that has a 99.9% specificity for Cov-19. The test has undergone clinical validity and has CE mark and awaiting FDA approval since beginning of February. The Novacyt tests are being used by NHS - over £1m ordered about 10 days ago.
Promising.

If it's an opinion there is no right or wrong, however unpopular that opinion might be, you'll always get some people agreeing & disagreeing.
You really do post some crap at times. Of course an opinion can be wrong.

If I was of the opinion that it was acceptable to discriminate against certain religions or that it was OK to have sex with underage children would you say that was alright because it was my opinion? Of course it would't be acceptable.

How many things did you touch with your gloves on?
it was all in my last sentence, trust me hubby and son also think I am going overboard and you're 100% in I know I must be touching something without gloves but am definitively trying to make it an absolute minimum, I consider my home to be a safe zone and try to keep it that way, make the family meals 99% of the time take away a luxury.

Funnily enough for some other comments we got an UBER going out last week and the Uber driver would not let us in, locked doors, until we went to his window and he gave us both hand sanitizer, only then would he open the doors. I thought, wow, this is over the top, but have changed my mind somewhat since then.

I don’t think you are going over the top at all.

I have self isolated, started week last Wednesday. I have been taking the dogs for a walk couple of times a day.

People I meet are being very sensible, yes having a chat but standing a good 3-5 meters apart.

From Monday I now have to do this for 12 weeks.

I have no issue with that at all, just hope we get through this.

Yes. It's OK to have those opinions and even lobby for them. As long as you don't break the law or encourage others to do so. Certain 'opinions' may correlate so closely to illegal activity that holding them means you're subject to significant scrutiny but holding them is still just an opinion.

If it's an opinion it's impossible for it to be right or wrong, people will always agree or disagree, even if it's 95% either way, the 5% are not wrong or right.

My point being that anything you didn't want to catch via touching it with hands, would still be transferred to the gloves, so if infected, anything you touched with your gloves could still get contaminated, so, door handles, steering wheels and gear sticks if you drove, anything you touched at home, were all those cleaned after being touched?

Your examples stated falls into breaking the law if the opinions are actioned, I personally think it's wrong to discriminate against certain religions or have sex with minors, doesn't mean I'm right, the law states I'm right if the opinions are actioned. An opinion means it can be shared but also can differ vastly person to person.

Update on some posts I did earlier in the week.

The nurse (Eve) who was sent home with Covid19 symptoms spent two days in bed and is now up and about feeling somewhat better. Neither her kids or husband have shown any symptoms as yet. Nor the grand parents.
My colleague who had a high temp same as his 3 year old. Both spent Wed night vomiting, now both are fine, not Covid 19 we don’t think. He is not going follow the 14 day isolation guidance as it’s not Covid.
No info on the people who went home from work or the subcontractors.

Anyone else know anyone who actually this virus??

I was going to put a link to the Sky feature in Italy’s hospital. Decided not to as it will be declared fake news.

But they are running it every couple of hours.

I feel for the Italians, looks bad.

I'm sure people who imposed other laws in previous generations were just as sure they were stopping people with "wrong" opinions. There's consensus and consent and having to be "right" or others "wrong" isn't a helpful starting point.

Lowbank, you are doing yourself no favours constantly trotting out depressing news.

What's the point when you'll just end up getting more and more depressed with it?

Seriously, you've got to try and look on positives.

It's a testament to how bad you are at discerning fake news from credible news (and how sorry you feel for yourself having been called out for the former multiple times) that you'd write that. If it's on Sky News and it passes the sniff test, why would you not share it? But since you give equal credence to random stuff, you now don't really know whether Sky is in the same bracket.

Still 20 serious/intensive care cases in the UK on the worldometers site, I see. Same people, do you reckon?

Honestly I am fine.

What surprises me is people still not practising social distancing. People were out with their dogs walking in this glorious sunshine but still saw several people shaking hands and two gave each other a hug.

Other half just been to Tesco to get my prescription and she tells me loads of people completely ignoring any distancing.

It appears there are people taking distancing seriously and some who are just carrying on as normal. Those carrying on need to wake up and start at least taking this seriously. If a feature from Italy can do that, I am all for it.

Not sure you read me too well. But never mind, that’s ok.

I read from the data that the UK are not releasing the critical/ serious numbers.

The fact that we have lost 144 people I suggest it will be at least treble that.

I will put a disclaimer by suggesting looking at Germanise figures, which are magnitudes different to Italy’s.

How serious are you taking it though? You state you are self isolating, yet going out twice a day, the two don't seem to go together, perhaps you see it different.

IFR estimate (UK only) 0.5% - 1.0%

Not sure if that's got any new science or just a repeat of late January's studies.

Self-isolating doesn't mean "stuck looking at four walls". That's been made clear repeatedly. This virus isn't a long range weapon.

unfortunately thats exactly what self isolating is meant to be. You are meant to self isolate if you have the virus or symptoms of the virus. what Lowbankclaret is actually doing (but naming it wrong) is social distancing, which is what we should all be doing.

No. As I understand his posts, he's going out for exercise. The government advice is to stay at home and not leave it, other than for exercise. No work, school, public areas.

I agree. But I thought we were discussing if "self-isolation" meant staying indoors. It doesn't (according to the official advice). That was all.
ah, fair enough :) the advice is changing minute by minute these days...

Northwick Park Hospital has declared a "critical incident", already at capacity for critical care. Well that came sooner than expected, scary

Which you'd already had told to you but didn't stop you running off with yet another conspiracy theory we're being lied to...
Ok , economical with the truth.

unfortunately thats exactly what self isolating is meant to be. You are meant to self isolate if you have the virus or symptoms of the virus. what Lowbankclaret is actually doing (but naming it wrong) is social distancing, which is what we should all be doing.
I accept that I used the wrong terminology.

Have there been any DEFINITE positive results in the Burnley area yet?
They are only testing people admitted to hospital. Blackburn hospital doesn’t know an arse from an elbow, so they probably haven’t tested anyone yet.

Before anyone jumps down my throat, my step dad went, only place he didn’t have cancer was his right kidney. They sent him home saying he had a viral syndrome. He died 9 days later. Very short version of a long story.

No. No-one apart from you was economical with the truth. You picked up an unsourced, unverified number that's probably just an input error and ran with it because it suited you. It's little better than lying.

Cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants must close tonight

Johnson says the government is strengthening the measures announced on Monday to avoid unnecessary social contact.

Following agreement of all the four nations of the UK, Johnson said all cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants must close tonight.

Nightclubs, theatres, gyms, cinemas and leisure centres must also close on the same timescale.

I'm glad they are closing, even though I'll have to see if Costa is open for my daily Americana. It sounds like a sensible decision.
