Watford have lost the new manager bounce , and Brighton are showing more bottle and better football than the rest. 8 points clear, and a game in hand is healthy

Brighton might be playing quite well, but they're not winning games. (Their point last week was quite fortuitous.)
I think it's wishful thinking that a lot of people have Pearson's Watford for the drop. IMO there's far more chance of Brighton finishing in the bottom 3 than Watford, so if one team is to win today I'd go for Watford. It keeps both teams 5 below us having played a game more. The draw is probably preferable though as both teams drop 2 points.
[tbf I would love Watford and WHU to go down though]

Everton v CP- HOME. Everton have 8 pts from their last 5 games,looking safe with 33 pts already, CP have only got 3 pts from last 5 games - looking a bit dodgy, keep pressure on them with another loss.

BHA v Watford- DRAW. BHA only 3 points from 5 games, on the slide despite people saying how much Potter has improved them; Watford (as mentioned above) Pearson "bounce"factor is subsiding - 2 points shared keeps them both down there.

Home wins in other two to keep pressure on Cherries (who have won two on the bounce) and particularly WHU.

Good start with the Everton victory,Palace are on the slide and if they don't start picking up points soon they'll be bang in trouble,their next 4 fixtures are huge Newcastle (H) Brighton (a) Watford (H) Bournemouth (a),that batch will go a long way to deciding several teams fortunes come the business end of the season.

But Brighton aren't playing quite well IMO. Brighton are doing a lot of possession football with moves of 20 or 30 passes, but when the result of that move is to give the ball to one or other goalkeeper without ever threatening to score, that's not playing well.

Even the Watford man who scored the own goal was totally unmarked. There wasn't a Brighton man within ten yards.

I watched the game tonight, and lost count of the number of times Brighton lost the ball whilst trying to play out from the back. A more clinical side than Watford would have won th game comfortably. That could be their downfall

I think it is a pity that Everton got 3 pts not 1, as they steal a march on our Euro hopes.

Tomorrow a Sheff/Bmth draw and a big win for Man City will do nicely.

That's true and they also have Hodgson at the helm,i don't think they'll get dragged in,but the big worry for them is they're not scoring goals 23 in 26 games tell it's own story,and if Zaha goes off the boil they lack a goal threat,Benteke's strike today was has first since last April,you'd think they'd collect enough points in the forthcoming fixtures to ease the pressure,but with 6 pointers who knows.

Two decent results for us. Palace losing and Brighton and Watford drawing.
If Bournemouth and West Ham drop points or better still lose then it's even better for us.

But depending on our result against Southampton (and that's going to be a tough one)
the next game against Bournemouth at home is huge, more so for Bournemouth than us.
We win it and we're verging on safe and 8-10 points ahead of bottom three.
Draw will keep us 6/7 points ahead. A loss would probably still have us 5/6 points ahead.

It's still all to play for but hopefully we'll get 3 points over the next two and
we keep the jitters from returning.
All we have to do is play like we have done over the last 2/3 games.

Even if we lose at Saints, beat Cherries then we will be 8 points clear of them with only 11 games left. With their fixtures I can’t see them getting another 8 points let alone going ahead of us
