Peterborough United made 8k from our game
On a twitter thread about VAR costing over 9k a game in the F.A Cup (at premier league grounds and deducted in match expenses) the Posh chairmen has posted they only made 8k pounds from our game.
Our costs must be huge and where does the foreign T.V money go?

Does he possibly mean profit, after their travel/overnight expenses etc?Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 9:11 amOn a twitter thread about VAR costing over 9k a game in the F.A Cup (at premier league grounds and deducted in match expenses) the Posh chairmen has posted they only made 8k pounds from our game.

But just think about the experience they gained playing against us. They've not looked back since and their league position is close to automatic promotion. Darren MacAnthony? can moan all he wants(as he usually does) but he may look back on that defeat as a pivotal moment in their season. The Burnley experience; priceless

He’s obviously not counting the prize money from the FA for reaching the 3rd round.
He’s a wrong un is their chairman - the club have a history of attracting em.

Re: Peterborough United made 8k from our game
It's a twitter thread about the cost of VAR (9 grand a game) and how lower league clubs got caught out not expecting to have to pay so much in the FA Cup.
He replied to somebody asking him how much they made from an away tie at a premier league club.
People think away ties in the premier league are a big payer, reality is different.

Re: Peterborough United made 8k from our game
Gate receipts will only have been around £75k to £100k. Then isn’t that then split 3 ways between both sides and the FA ?
Take off cost of VAR and travel / hotel expenses etc and then yep easy to see how it’s only £8k.

Payment goes to the PGMOL, I'd never heard of this organisation before this season. They are now running / ruining the game.

Re: Peterborough United made 8k from our game
I can't see VAR being in the early rounds of the cup next year. The smaller clubs will be well against it now.
We have had to sell around 1200 tickets against Posh just to pay for VAR.

The pitch side monitor was well worth the expense. Mike Riley!!

Re: Peterborough United made 8k from our game
Sam Ricketts mentioned Shrewsbury got around £150,000 as opposed to around £5/600,000 if the Liverpool 1st team played. Haven’t a clue how with Anfield being full anyway?
Re: Peterborough United made 8k from our game
If this true its no wonder the FA cup is not treated seriously by Premier League teams.

I think it is the rules but it comes out of the overall profit before it is shared so in effect Peterborough would have paid half of it.Marney&Mee wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 11:39 amThat can’t be right can it CT ? Why would we cover that.

I think there are some stricter rules than that and it has to be agreed between the two clubs prior to the game.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 11:45 amWe pay their travel and accommodation?? Is that really so?? What if they decided to fly up and booked a really fancy hotel??

Re: Peterborough United made 8k from our game
Paying the opposition hotel expenses can't be right.
So if Stanley had an home tie to Chelsea, do you honestly think they would agree to pay for the players and staffs overnight accommodation at the Dunkenhalgh
Can't see it myself and never heard of this before

Premier Inn or Travel Lodge, family rooms - anything above and you can pay it yourself.Top Claret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 11:54 amPaying the opposition hotel expenses can't be right.

I stayed at Dunkenhalgh when we played Chelsea first home game - when Chelsea won 3-1 . The Chelsea team were there with me, plus a handful of Chelsea fans.
Re: Peterborough United made 8k from our game
Yes very odd that one....unless season ticket holders got in free?
Commentators kept going on about a full house.

Re: Peterborough United made 8k from our game
The lack of understanding of the average fan of the cost of running clubs and staging matches is very high and the rewards in our domestic cups do little to help big clubs cover them - it is something that has been discussed in length around the recent outcry over replays and even participation by big clubs recently - fundamentally these clubs are losing money by taking part and it is why an increasing number of clubs are forcing season ticket holders to buy cup tickets

Take off VAT as well - one sixth of the gate receipts go to the government.
Re: Peterborough United made 8k from our game
The home team don't pay all the away team hotel expenses. Effectively it is shared as it comes out of the game income before profits are calculated at the bottom of the match return.Top Claret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 11:54 amPaying the opposition hotel expenses can't be right.

There is also a bit on the form which allows you to deduct advertising costs if you are the home team.
The thing sort of works. Of course, you get anomalies, and at lower levels in the early rounds you probably don't get enough to pay the expenses given that the refs have to be from out of county (unless you manage to get drawn against an opponent from your own league) but it generally is not too unfair.
That is dependent on your not getting stiffed by the other team. Thank you Eastbourne Town.

Stayed at the Titanic hotel in Liverpool a couple of seasons ago and the Leicester team were staying there before playing at Anfield. Staff member told me they had the contract for the the accommodation from the Premier League for visiting teams playing both at Anfield and Goodison. As CT said it's all pre agreed and arranged.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 11:47 amI think there are some stricter rules than that and it has to be agreed between the two clubs prior to the game.

I was staying there a few years back when Swansea were playing Everton. Brian Flynn was in the bar area, assume he was part of the Swansea set up, had a pleasant chat with him as one of my all time favorite Burnley players.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 12:19 pmStayed at the Titanic hotel in Liverpool a couple of seasons ago and the Leicester team were staying there before playing at Anfield.
