Pickford
Dives in front of a bus and it goes under him.

Re: Jordan Pickford
Somehow England’s number one! Dreadful goalkeeping.
Re: Pickford
That's being incredibly unfair on flip-flops and chocolate.

Re: Pickford
He is simply not good enough enough to be England's number one. That was awful. Step up his grace the Pope to take over.
Re: Pickford
Must be coming under serious pressure now. Pope and Dean Henderson are both having great seasons.

Re: Pickford
Not a helluva save for me. He just did the Schmeichel starfish and it hit him.
The Guaita save was stunning. Moving his hand to tip a shot, from 5yds, away.

Re: Pickford
Unlucky for Heaton ( the best English keeper ) as injury has cost him yet again a chance of getting the No1 jersey for Eng. With Hart finished and Butland in the wilderness and Forster getting on a bit it’s possibly a chance for Pope or Henderson .The ultra modern tv era has been brutal beyond belief for keepers.

Re: Pickford
Pickford's fortunate that his distribution is better than any of his rivals, that factor alone will influence Gareth's thinking,my worry is he's always got a clanger in him,and one mistake could easily end England's Euro hopes, also he's suspectible to the crossed ball, but at present he's got the jersey and i can't see Gareth ditching him before the summer.
Re: Pickford
I wouldn’t even have T-Rex in the England squad!
Re: Pickford
I've said before, defending isn't that important in the modern game for many teams as long as you are good at attacking. Being a good shot stopper is a long way down the list in comparison to having good distribution.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 4:34 pmPickford's fortunate that his distribution is better than any of his rivals, that factor alone will influence Gareth's thinking,my worry is he's always got a clanger in him,and one mistake could easily end England's Euro hopes, also he's suspectible to the crossed ball, but at present he's got the jersey and i can't see Gareth ditching him before the summer.

Re: Pickford
I'd rather have Billy the Fish than Pickford.
But he plays for Everton....... Whereas Pope plays for that team.... what are they called...? Erm.... Near Yorkshire.... Oooh, I'll remember in a minute....

Re: Pickford
The thing is, at international level the style is so different. How many teams will put England under pressure with crosses into the box and high balls. That’s his main weakness. And popes strength.
In the main Pickford is a decent shot stopper. Popes main weakness is shots hard and low close to his body.
Pope is great for us. As our style suits him. As it did Heaton.
As soon as Heaton went to a villa where they don’t protect him and weren’t as organised he didn’t look half as good.

Re: Pickford
Can’t agree with this^. How many excellent saves does he make with his feet? The only one that springs to mind, where he was poor, was Palaces goal on HT. in that instance he went with his hands whereby standing upright it would have hit his foot.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 7:40 pmPopes main weakness is shots hard and low close to his body.
Re: Pickford
He should be the first name on the England team sheet. Along with Rose, Smalling and Bamford.

Re: Pickford
And David Sadler. For you young one's he was failed Man U centre forward. Went to centre half and 5 mins later he played there for England. Absolute joke. Not fit to lace Tarky's boots.

very few goalkeepers at international level are expected to deal with high crosses.
Re: Pickford
Pickford makes the easy look sensational and the more difficult, unsaveable. Positioning.
Re: Pickford
As I have Maidstone United tenancies, a centre half combination of their greatest ever products in that position - Smalling and Sadler is something I'd actually like to see.
Beeney in goal and Warren Barton at right back and that's a decent start for a team.

Re: Pickford
All good keepers need a good defence. Confidence breeds confidence. Everton are a poor side, especially in defence. IMO, Pickford isn't good enough, but is it time for Pope just yet?

Re: Pickford
He's a big crybaby isn't he,listen Jordan it's simple if you want to prove the doubters wrong perform on the park.i agree the £30m price tag has gone to his head, all keepers will make the odd error Henderson and Pope have dropped a b**lock this season,Henderson against Liverpool, and Pope at Stamford Bridge, but they've both responded in a positive manner, not gone bleating to the press about being hard done too.
Last season Pickford made four errors which led to goals. He has two in the current campaign.
That stat doesn't fill any England fan with confidence heading into the Euro's.Pickford might well be good at playing out from the back, but ultimately his main job is keeping the ball from hitting the back of the net, that's what he'll be judged on.

Re: Pickford
All this playing out from the back is a Pep invention it dosent really get the team anywhere, now the opposition are pressing the team playing out from the back they push them back so far they either make a mistake or hoof it....totally pointless time wasting exercisetiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 9:10 pmHe's a big crybaby isn't he,listen Jordan it's simple if you want to prove the doubters wrong perform on the park.i agree the £30m price tag has gone to his head, all keepers will make the odd error Henderson and Pope have dropped a b**lock this season,Henderson against Liverpool, and Pope at Stamford Bridge, but they've both responded in a positive manner, not gone bleating to the press about being hard done too.

Re: Pickford
I’m pretty certain in saying teams that play out from the back concede far less goals giving the ball away doing so than what teams do booting it from goal kicks and losing possession. I agree it looks awful when they do lose it 20yds from their goal and far more dangerous than losing it by a long goal kick but it happens very very little. Teams concede more booting it and losing possession.
