The fairytale is coming to its end,it always does, will Eddie have the balls to hang around and get them back up i reckon he will move on to bigger things like he did when he came to us,and manage someone like Preston or Derby

They might not get the crowds but the money backing them up is significant. I'm sure Mick McCarthy said something about it when they got promotion from the championship. It is not as much of an underdog story as the media try and spin it as.

Provided we are safe, I'd much rather Bournemouth stayed up rather than Brighton, Villa, Watford etc

Exactly, claretabroad. Financial backing doesn't guarantee success in the lower divisions - see Derby's continued failure - but it should help massively and it certainly did in Bournemouth's case. I don't know if the owner has confidence in EH and his squad or has said, "No more." or believes Bournemouth will bounce straight back but the recent relative lack of transfer activity is quite interesting.

He won't move to Derby or Preston Steve, his wife won't let him move 'up north'. She's a south coast girl through and through. :D

If they went down, there would surely be a mass exodus regards players, and I certainly wouldn't mind pinching 1 or 2 off them.

However I can see them scraping their way to survival.

If we beat them I think it will make us all but safe in the process.

Bournemouth are just going through a natural cycle. They will eventually get relegated; maybe this year. We will too, eventually.

I'd say this is more an article of what Eddie Howe has done, not necessarily Bournemouth, and no matter the financial backing, to take them from where he did to where they are is some story.

They could get points from us,Chelsea,Newcastle,United,Spurs and Southampton, you've also omitted their home game with Palace from your list,i'll be :o if they pick up much from their other games, but i can see them doing just enough to survive, they've got important players returning which could prove the difference.

I think all that people have said in the past is that Bournemouth might be a small club in terms of history, fans, stadium etc but they have big financial backing as is evidenced by their wage bill, transfer spend etc.....so it might not be as an "incredible" achievement as some people make out.
I know Sheff United also have rich backers but I think there rise from the first division to the Premier League with little spent on players and wages (up until this season and knowing they were safe) is almost as impressive as Bournemouth.

let's not forget they were paying Defoe over 100K a week. Not knocking their rise, it has been very very good.

Wondered if you'd know that. Cyan/Magenta/Yellow and Black (I know, I never understood why 'k' for black either unless they were spelling it backwards). I had to know this rubbish when I was in advertising. The standard colours used in printing mate. Ref: 'Pigment'. :D :D :D

How can you worry about the Spanish Inquisition? Nobody expects it.

Kohl is Black in German maybe that is the reason...

I never thought about CYMK as the colours in printing :D :D :D missed that completely....

Edit....just googled it...

The letter 'K' is generally used to describe BLACK toner or ink

OKI use the letter 'K' when referring to the black toner and the black image drum.

The toner cartridges and image drums are represented by the four colours in the CMYK colour model:: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and BlacK.

There is no definitive reason why the letter 'K' is used but some possible suggestions are:

The 'K' in CMYK stands for 'Key' since in four-colour printing the Cyan, Magenta and Yellow printing plates are carefully keyed or aligned with the key of the Black key plate.

The letter 'K' is used because it's the last letter of the word "Black" and is not occupied by any other colour. i.e. the letter "B" could not be used as it's an abbreviation used for the colour blue in the RGB colour model.

Can you show me their net transfer spend for any of the seasons outside of the Premier League?

From what I remember they had a pretty basic Championship side mainly the same side who got promoted from League One.

According to transfermarkt their net spent in 14/15 (when they got promoted) was a whopping £500k. They signed Boruc and Kenwyne Jones on loan, spent £4M on Wilson and Surman combined (sold Grabban for £3.5m) the other two arrivals were Stanislas and Gosling both on free transfers.

So between 2010 and 2015 their net spend on transfers was £2.5m.

It’s not all about transfer spends and transfermarkt is not that reliable a website - especially as so many transfer fees in recent years are undisclosed.

A much more reliable and factual source of information to show that they did not do this on the shoestring budget you seem to be suggesting is the fact that they lost nearly £40m in their promotion winning season 2014/15 and were as a result in breach of FFP and picked up an £8m fine on the back of this.
And the thing is that it was not just the promotion season they were posting big losses....look at the seasons before when they were in the 1st and 2nd division and see if you can tell me many more clubs who have posted losses in these lower divisions to the extent Bournemouth were.

All this goes to show is what a waste of time FFP is - you can basically cheat your way to the Premier League by breaking the financial rules and guidelines knowing that the benefits for getting in the Premier League will dwarf any fines and that you have a billionaire owner who will pay it anyway.

But yeh little old Bournemouth and their incredible journey to the top with the only person lending a tiny helping hand their Russian billionaire owners - what a story !

FFP is a pile of shite though, hamstringing the smaller clubs. Do we know what the £40m lost was spent on? because it wasn’t transfer fees. How did their wage bill compare with those around them?

It’s only rubbish because the fine and disincentives to cheat and break the rules are not harsh enough.
You don’t know whether it was transfer fees or not as a lot are undisclosed as I have said
....but of course it will be mostly player wages and some transfer spend - these are invariably the vast majority of costs for any football club.

I don’t really see your point - I have just proved to you that they reached the Premier League by spending a hell of a lot more money than most (if not all) other clubs and that spend has to be on playing staff, agents fees etc.

If you want to make an argument that they got there on a shoestring and it was all down to Eddie Howe’s incredible management then you are going to have to do better than quote a website that does not even get most of the disclosed transfer fees correct.

They will eventually get relegated; maybe this year. We will too, eventually.

It’s odd how having a realistic view of the situation is regarded in a negative way. I thought it was just being an adult about things.

There are no fairytales in football, it's a business. You win any way you can.

We overspent on Chris Eagles to get promoted to the premier league the first time round. People on here conveniently forget we went under a transfer embargo for not paying United their fee.
But it paid off for us in the end. Getting the riches that paid off all our debts and let us come back for another shot at the big time.

Who knows where we would be without our cheating?

I seem to remember we would have posted a loss of around £9m if we would not have been promoted under Coyle...not sure that is classified as cheating. We may have been taking a big risk yes but not sure we deliberately broke any rules like Bournemouth did.

I think Preston posted losses of around £9m in the year we went up under Coyle as there were stories saying our losses would have been similar.

I can’t remember anything about a transfer embargo. Do you have a link you can post - I’ve had a quick look but can’t find any news report about it.
