Early goals on the turf
Anyone remember any for us? None spring to mind, although I remember Robbie Painter scoring after about 15 seconds on the Burnley Are Back video against Cardiff I think. I’m talking seconds not minutes here.

Re: Early goals on the turf
Not on t'Turf but any road, I missed Andy Gray's winner at Stoke in Cotterill's time here.
I did see Bryan Robson's at Old Trafford in the Milk Cup. That doesn't count (or it shouldn't) though.

Scored against Norwich a few years back before I got into the ground. Finished 2-1.

Match against City in early 70s. Dobo for us Ian Bowyer for them. 1-1 after 3mins. Finished 1-1.
Mid 60s home to Sheff U they scored after 6secs. CF touched ko, IL laid it back to LH, he played a pass inside John Angus and their LW banged it home. 4 touches.

Couple of first minute goals I remember at home.
Billy Hamilton v Barnsley 1982/83
Scott Arfield v Leeds 2015/16

Re: Early goals on the turf
Turned up to a Tuesday night game against Millwall years ago, only to find we were 1 down to a Jermaine Wright goal after about 10 seconds.
He did exactly the same against us at Elland Road the season before.

Re: Early goals on the turf
And he did it again in the same season as the Millwall game, this time for Southampton, but it was credited as a Phil Bardsley own goal.
And we didn’t lose any of those games, won the first two 2-1 and drew the other 1-1.

Les Shannon scored in the first minute for us against Man United in the FA CUP, 1954. Bill Holden made it 2-0 in the fifth minute but it was 2-2 in the seventh minute. We went on to win 5-3.

18 seconds and that came from our kick off! I was closer to stopping the shot than Roger Hansbury and I was in the paddock behind the goal.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 8:15 pm

I’m pretty sure Payton scores with his first and last touch that season.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 8:46 pmFirst home game 1998-99 v Bristol Rovers Andy Payton scored a first minute goal,I think. Won 2-1.
Scored v Stoke late on in the season and went straight off with a hamstring injury.

I've always thought that it was around the 30 ish second mark. Mind you that could be when I thought... I wish I hadn't have bothered.

Earliest goal in more recent times was against Leeds, I think Arfield scored.
Edit - it was, after 60 secs

In November 1975 I got into t'Turf a couple of minutes late. We were already 2-0 down to Wolves. Went on to lose 5-0.

Here is the game. The number nine striker for Leeds was a bit of a donkey though!claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 9:46 pmEarliest goal in more recent times was against Leeds, I think Arfield scored.

Don’t think they scored their first until about the 3rd or 4th minute, but we were three down at home to Man City after seven minutes in 2010.

Didn't Bobby Zamora score in the first minute for Brighton a few seasons ago? Think we equalised shortly after

Stan's very first game. In terms of the season, that was the peak!Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 8:46 pmFirst home game 1998-99 v Bristol Rovers Andy Payton scored a first minute goal,I think. Won 2-1.

Re: Early goals on the turf
I remember a game against Wrexham (or was it Millwall) when my mate got on the ground about 10 minutes late and he asked if he'd missed anything. 'We are losing 2-0' I said. There were no more goals that day. Mate was seriously p!ssed off. Back in the 70s at the Turf. Anyone remember it, not even 100% about the opposition, thinking about it it could have been Millwall.

The Palace goal was in the third minute and he’d scored in the previous game at Spurs.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 8:55 pmChris wood vs Crystal palace...his debut i think.
Re: Early goals on the turf
v Portsmouth, early 1973. Tues night game. Scored whilst I was trying to get through a Beehole End turnstile at just after 7.30.
Missed that one but scored 3 more before half-time and on top of that Casper? missed a pen.
Thought we'd get 10 that night but 4-0 was the final score.
If memory serves me right.

Re: Early goals on the turf
that’s mentioned in the topic:
‘late goals on the Wembley’
a great debut for the Clarets!
Re: Early goals on the turf
I saw a very early goal - every chance a world record early goal - at Huddersfield, their reserves v. our reserves, soon after they moved to the McAlpine.
Liam Robinson (from memory) scored after 51 seconds (from memory) but it may have been 53 seconds. And it was the equaliser. Huddersfield had scored after 8 seconds. First minute goals? Pah. First minute equalisers, and I'll listen.
CT was probably there. The supporters' club ran a bus.

Re: Early goals on the turf
One first minute goal that I missed was in the women's international a few years back. I got into the ground after 2 minutes and it was 1-0. Which is how it stayed.

Early season game v Brighton at home under the lights in 1993/94 season and Kevin Russell scored a very early goal(could have been first minute) down at the Beehole End.

Re: Early goals on the turf
I remember the Dobson goal against City. It was in 1969 and feel sure that Ralph Coates, from kick off, took the ball down the right wing towards where the tunnel now is and crossed it low. Dobson turned it in at the near post. The time was 23 seconds, which was then the fastest goal at Turf Moor. Bowyer equalised at the Bee Hole End a few minutes later. I was stood on the Bee Hole terrace and Bowyer’s headed goal seemed to be from the edge of the penalty box, sailing over Mellor and just under the bar.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 8:22 pmMatch against City in early 70s. I remember all this because it was my first ever 1st team game on the Turf!
One odd thing: I was talking to Dobson 5 or 6 years back and mentioned his “fastest ever” goal. He didn’t remember it!!!

Hi houseboy
My mind might be playing tricks but I remember a game against Millwall I took my Friend who supports Man U. we arrived 5 mins late it was 1-0 for Clarets we left with 5 mins to go and they scored again.... the game was so boring and we missed both goals. could've sworn we won but I could be wrong

While the OP was referring to the Turf, I think the Westwood goal yesterday should be credited in that direction. Inspired post !
