Gibson training at Middlesbrough
Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
I’m sure we there are some large rocks down Gawthorpe that need breaking up into smaller ones for no apparent reason.
Can we not get Gibson working on these ?.... preferably in the baking son with only one short water break a day (where our coaches spit into his water tin)

Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
Agree with a previous post-get him training at Burnley on his own, or with the U-23's and hire a decent Employment Law lawyer. Its the equivalent of having an ongoing holiday with full pay. Lets make his life hell. He is being paid handsomely and has no respect for our club. A leach
BFC plead poverty and yet he is still here after the bust up over 7 months ago. Warnock would have had him out the building months ago. Whats the worse he can do-sue us ???

He clearly hasn’t done anything to warrant being sacked. So yes, the worst he can do is sue us - which would cost us even more money and reputation.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 10:03 amAgree with a previous post-get him training at Burnley on his own, or with the U-23's and hire a decent Employment Law lawyer. Its the equivalent of having an ongoing holiday with full pay. For all we know Gibson is desperate to leave but there hasn't been any firm interest yet? I'd be amazed if he's happy with the current situation.

Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
I doubt he'll be training with Middlesbrough give who their manager is. He won't want anyone around who isn't committed and he quickly sorted that out when he went in last season. We will surely get him offloaded one way or the other before the window closes.

CT-hope you are right. Strangely I can remember SD having a chat with Pullis-the then Boro manager. From what I recall Pullis told SD he was a fantastic pro, a pleasure to work with , and sorry he was going. So much for a character reference

Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
Pulis did say that about him publicly, but things can go wrong at clubs. That's clearly happened here and it is a good guess that it's been born out of frustration at not getting a game. It just so happens that since Gibson got fit around Christmas 2018, Tarkowski and Mee have been exceptional. Hopefully, for ours and his sake, he'll be gone soon.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 10:22 amCT-hope you are right. Strangely I can remember SD having a chat with Pullis-the then Boro manager. But I recall the Warnock documentary some years ago at Sheffield United and he made it clear he doesn't want players around who are not available to play for him. It was said last season that as soon as Warnock came in, Gibson stopped training with them. He might want to sign him but he won't want him getting in the way of training if he's not their player.

Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
To be fair, none of us know what happened.
Hopefully his contract was heavily incentivised and we are no longer paying the full reported salary given he’s not in the team/squad.
Don’t like the thought of him returning to Gawthorpe unless it was at a completely different time to other players.

Jim Jams and dressing gown... it's a mans equivalent of those women in rollers and pyjamas poncing about at the local shop....
Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
He might comeback with an apology yet. Very much doubt it though.

Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
I'm not in favour of making anyone's life hell but, there has to be something within Employment Law that says "Do what you're paid to do, or you don't get paid"
Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
I suspect that a large part of it is the impact / impression that any sort of step down would send to the rest of the squad.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 11:17 amI'm not in favour of making anyone's life hell but, there has to be something within Employment Law that says "Do what you're paid to do, or you don't get paid"

Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
He gave that reference cos that’s what he was. His lack of opportunities here has worn him down to the point where he believes he has been unfairly treated and he’s kicked back.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 10:22 amCT-hope you are right. I don’t know the entire history behind this, I doubt anyone does bar the player, the manager and maybe a few others. We don’t know what he was or wasn’t promised on signing.
It’s a big **** sandwich, that much I DO know....
Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
Shocking waste all round. Lose lose for us and him. Big win for Boro who I assume got paid. No wonder we struggle to sign new players
Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
I hope we didn't promise him anything. That sends the wrong signal to the rest of the squad straight away. Nobody should be guaranteed a starting spot. Any professional worth their salt would expect to have to work to get into the side, not expect a guarantee of first team football.bobinho wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 11:40 amHe gave that reference cos that’s what he was. He needs showing the door the fastest and least costliest way in the interest of BFC.
If that means treating him like **** then so be it

Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
I’m certain that this situation had a lot to do with the fall-out between manager and chairman.
Player depression may be an issue in Gibson’s case - a once-promising career cut short by injury and inactivity. Seems a likely reason that the lad has gone back to the safety of his home club and is allegedly refusing other options.
Apart from a couple of sketchy loans, Middlesbrough is the only other club that he has known from 12 years old and with the comfort of his immediate family and uncle Steve he may not have had to move very far from his family home. He is a single guy (no kids) and doesn’t seem to have many other commitments.

Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
It doesn't help the situation with his uncle owning Boro.
I can see us being done over here with Gibson turning all offers down and going back to Boro at the end of the window.
He will more than likely enter some private arrangement with him and his uncle Steve that will be be financially sound for both parties.

Nixon says Norwich still trying hard for him but Boro not trying so hard.
Unless they think they can get him cheaper with the waiting game?

Re: Gibson training at Middlesbrough
"Norwich want to take Gibson on loan and Burnley want someone to sign him permanently, hence no deal has been done yet. I suspect as the window goes on and if there are no takers for Gibson, Burnley will let him go on a loan with a permanent deal if Norwich go up. "
From a Norwich board, no idea if it's correct or not

Norwich are the club where the links have been the strongest and for the longest. If it has to be a loan then we should do that because he’s unlikely to be coming back here.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 4:40 pmNixon says Norwich still trying hard for him but Boro not trying so hard.

So what did we pay and how much were they expecting. I assume the difference is add ons. Whatever Boro got was a win for them and a loss for usClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 12:24 pmNot a big win for Boro at all because they are getting nowhere near the fee for him that they might have expected.
