I thought Mahon was a great signing for us at the time. He'd always played well against us and I was surprised that he didn't do better with us but he was also played out of position on the left-wing too often.

If you look at his record, he didn't play very much for anyone. Cotterill didn't always play him, Coyle didn't always play him and it was the same at every club he was at. First time I saw him he was on the left hand side for Tranmere, a player with so much talent but he never really did enough in his playing career for whatever reason.the_fat_shearer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 6:41 pmI thought Mahon was a great signing for us at the time. The mercurial Alan Mahon. Showed glimpses of talent for us but shame he wasn't more consistent

I remember one good game he had.
Playing for bastards in their 5-0 defeat of us at Ewood. He was a wing back that day, left of a midfield 5.
We got off lightly, could have been 10.

He'd made his debut for them when they played on the Turf earlier that season.Cubanclaret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 7:11 pmI remember one good game he had.

Outstanding footballer on his day but his day was never often enough.
He got a win in his first game as a manager though.
