Burnley’s best & worst transfer windows

Post by PremierLeagueClass » Wed Feb 12, 2020 7:27 pm

Given today’s news regarding Gibson that Summer 2018 has to be considered one of the worst windows we’ve ever had.

For balance, what would everyone regard as our best and worst transfer windows.

The Summer 2013 window certainly sticks in the mind as an excellent one with Heaton, Jones and Arfield all on a free.

Summer 2011 saw us get Mee and Trippier on season long loans which turned into permanent signings in the Jan window. On top of that we signed Ings and Stanilas and got Vokes on loan a couple of months later in Nov.

The importance of 4 of those players in our recent history is almost immeasurable

Who else did we sign in summer 2018, was it just Gibson, Hart and Vydra? Yeah definetely not our recruitment teams finest hour.
I agree the summer we signed Heaton, Jones and Arfield was a good one. The missing pieces in the jigsaw that helped us get promoted the following season.

Summer 2004.

I think Cotterill had about 8 players on the books and we didn’t have any money.

Michael Duff 30k
John McGreal Free
Micah Hyde Free
Frank Sinclair Free
Danny Coyne 25k
Gary Cahill Loan

I might be missing one or two but a great bit of business for the position we were in, good service from all bar Coyne who had an ACL I think.

Heaton Jones and Arfield wasn't a bad window with Charlie going to QPR
