Crowd singing his name and every player hugging and shaking his hand as he came off. Its clear, that frustrated as Vydra must be, he's no Gibson!

Take a bow son!

Huge win and Vydra finally showing why we shelled out over 10m for him.We don't score many tap-in's these days do we.

Shame about Wood's injury, but Vydra and Jay Rod showed enough today to suggest they'll be a goal threat if they're paired up against Bournemouth.

What a gritty and determined performance. The weather was awful and made good play difficult but a moment of sheer quality got us the 3 points.

Hoping for a safe journey home for our fans and the team.

Saying on BT that Barnes will be available next week. Wood didn’t look to serious and Vydra deserves a start after that 70mins.

After his performance against Bournemouth last year i'd consider starting him,it's just great that we now have striking options, and aren't reliant on Barnes and Wood bullying centre-backs.

Dunno about that one, I was getting a worried at the end. Our lads were sliding and falling all over the place, because of the atrocius weather. Anything could have happened, but happily it didn't.

In our position Arteta would have complained that Southampton had been polishing the grass to make it extra slippy.

Rough day to play football on, nice to get 3 points :)

Pleased for Vydra and the lad seems popular with the team, he was absolutely mobbed when he scored

If we had gone with the bookmakers and lost that one and at old Trafford, home to arsenal and Leicester we'd now be in a relegation spot.
As it is, 10 points clear of Watford and west ham with 6 of the bottom 7 still to play.
1st time I've felt a bit confident that we have another season in this division.
Vydra to start the next one? It would be excellent if he could become a really useful engine. One less problem to solve in the summer.

For those who have not seen the Vydra goal on tv in slow mo. Just imagine if the scorer had been Messi or Ronaldo etc !!! The chest control taking the ball away from the defender then the flick past Bertrand then the shot. A world class goal. Hats off to Vydra

This could be the perfect storm. Brownhill coming on 2nd half and scoring the winning goal :)
Good shout, Firthy… except it was Matej and he came on in the 1st half. ;)

UTC

EDIT: "2st" should, of course be "1st" half.
