Hendrick
Great ball for Vydra's goal, broke play up loads of times and over all was very good (should have got on the end of that Taylor cross though) - get that contract signed Jeff !

Re: Hendrick
Another good game from Jeff but Christ I was screaming at him to make a run when Taylor got to the byline! Tap in Jeff, come on!
Hope he signs a new deal but I don’t think he’ll be staying.

Fantastic again. Hard graft, simple things done well, superb assist. Never grumbles , plays wherever he is asked and if he leaves he will be sorely missed.

Re: Hendrick
I thought he was poor, like the rest of midfield.
He should of got on the end of Taylor's cross and then a minute later had the ball with a striker free in the middle, for a simple ball and gave it away. Kept letting the winger just run past him.
But each to their own I guess.

Re: Hendrick
One of our better players today and they all played well
The assist to Vydra which won the game was worth as much as the finish
Yes was everywhere as usual and broke up Southampton play
Then again he is a scapegoat to some posters who don’t seem to have much idea about football imo

That old chestnut.
You don't like a player that I do, so you know nothing about football.
We will see at the end of the season if he gets a move to a higher club than Burnley. Man City will be in for him with how some on here speak of him.

Could not agree more. It isn’t a new thing Burnley fans have always whinged about the engine men of the midfield. Clearly people who just don’t get the roles these type of players are filling. Hendrick covers space as well as any midfielder I’ve seen in a Burnley shirt... but it is never a popular role for some fans.

Utter ********. Nobody is saying he is good enough for City but as with Scott Arfield the job he does for us will be difficult to replace. If he goes, and it looks likely, Brownhill will get first chance at it.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 3:46 pmWe will see at the end of the season if he gets a move to a higher club than Burnley. You mean that you jumped on the bandwagon after Marney's first two seasons when, in the eyes of so many Clarets fans, he could do no right, in spite of the fact that he was carrying the midfield and never, ever didn't give 100%.superdimitri wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 3:14 pmWas a big fan of Marney. Usually because they’ve decided before the game kicks off. Overall I thought he was really good this afternoon. I suspect we will be losing him but it will be a shame if we do.

Winning throw ins in the final third in the 80th minute and getting slaps on the back from his team mates, not Eden Hazard but never gives up.
As for Taylor's cross looked like he was expecting the cut back into the box, If he'd have run on and Taylor had pulled it back we'd be bemoaning that too. Stick or Twist, some times it comes off others it doesn't.

Re: Hendrick
Exactly. But people will frown upon our opinion based on one wayward long ball (that happened to be from Jeff) that made the mark.
Mind you, if it wasn't for Vydra's excellent control and finish it would have amounted to nothing!
I really don't understand the plaudits for Hendrick at all, people will complain and criticize me for being "blind" or whatever, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I don't think he offers enough. I feel its players like him that hold us back from moving forward, and if we don't sign him on for another contract, it will only be beneficial since it won't be hard to better him.
Fine as a backup player, and I do feel for him playing out of position but I know all it will take is another player to show us what they can do in the same position to relegate him back to the bench again.
It's funny because you can express your own opinion, get criticism about not seeing what a player does well, yet I've never, ever implied to anyone else that their criticism is injust.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion whether you like it or not, no need to throw your toys out of the pram when it's not what you agree with. This is a message board after all.
Bring back Johann.

Re: Hendrick
Cant believe after that great and workmanlike team performance that someone wants to single out Jeff. We were there for the taking today against a very in form club who had the pundits raving on how the club and their manager have turned things round. In the end it was an easy performance with the defense playing superbly (like two seasons ago), and they had their job made easy by the work put in by the rest of the team. I think Jeff has played really well since the Leicester game-don't forget this is not his best position and SD has now played him in three different roles. You need a strong squad in the PL and really hope Jeff does not leave us. If he does I can see someone like Sheff Utd or one of the promoted clubs like Leeds or WBA giving him a long contract

The wayward long ball which Vydra asked for and wanted Hendrick to play in exactly the spot in which he did. If Hendrick had not played that ball exactly as Vydra requested it would not have mattered what Vydra was going to do with it. Like most fans I would.love to see Johann back and back to his best. Whether that happens again is debatable at the moment so it's probably benefitted us having someone to replace him most of this season who has helped get us to 10 th in the league currently. Or perhaps we've done that in spite of his place in the team.

Thought Jeff was excellent today. He put another couple of top drawer balls through as well as making the winner.
He did the sleeves-rolled-up dirty stuff well too. He's been hit and miss a bit, this season. But these last few games he's more than proved his worth.
And while I completely agree, it's all about personal opinions, they're mine.

Jeff was good today, as he has been pretty much all season. I’ve been a critic of him in the past but he’ll be missed if he doesn’t extend his contract and he won’t be cheap to replace.
