Gibson, Vydra or Ings

Post by Grumps » Sat Feb 15, 2020 4:20 pm

All three wanted away, two threw the dummies out of the pram, the other stuck with it, gaining 3 points today in the process

Just asking about their attitude, not performance

What has vydra done to put him in the same bracket as the other two. As far as I can see he's been available for every game he's been required for, kept his head down and trained hard, shown today by how all our players celebrated with him. He might not be happy, he possibly could have played more, but he's kept it professional, the other two didn't.

Ings for me too :D

Gibson ranks alongside Bumford as a soft b'stard...

Vyds has shown today he is up for the fight so if he gets a chance with Wood injured then he has to grasp the nettle and show more of that spirit he showed today.

But Ingsy will always be a Claret for me

If someone wanted to sign me from a relegation bound club to go to Liverpool I would imagine my head would be a bit scrambled for a while. Especially if told ffs don't get injured!

You're sort of proving my point for me. Yes vydra wants away, but despite losing out of a move he's knuckled down and taken his chance, something Gibson hasn't done. Ings got his move, and he wasn't going to do anything to stop that, even to the detriment of the team

All I've ever talked about on this thread is attitude, not commitment, not skill, not performance just attitude and in my opinion vydra has shown a better attitude in relation to moves away from the club than ings or Gibson.

Ings stayed until the end of his contract though.

Our players reaction to Vydra today said everything. And to let him come over to the Burnley fans at the end on his own initially was brilliant.

He did, but had to be substituted because the Manager said words to the effect that his head was elsewhere, I don't recall that being said about any other player by dyche

Ings attitude was so bad that after so called downing tools against Sunderland he played and scored goals in the following two games and ended up starting 35 out of 38 games.

He had a bad day at Sunderland and the Liverpool bid probably effected his concentration but had Ings been mentally on the beach and out the door no way would Dyche have kept playing him and no way Ings would have gone on to reach 11 league goals

That's just it. He thought he was better than us. Moved to a club I can't stand and then pretty much proved that he wasn't quite as good as he thought he was.
Vydra just wants to play football. I'd much rather him.

What a stupid and ill informed comment.
Maybe Ings wanted to leave because he was on a fraction of the money Vydra was on both in terms of salary and signing on fee and he had one of the biggest clubs in the world wanting to sign him.

I can think of millions of reasons why Vydra decided to stay at Burnley.

Ings is one of the best players to put on a Burnley shirt in 50 years and his attitude was pretty spot on for 99% of the time. He got us promotion and we then made a very nice profit on us.
Vydra - I ain’t got a clue what his attitude is. Scoring a great goal today does not equate to a great attitude. Dyche has made previous comments about his attitude in training and needing to smile more.

And you think that Ings is the only Burnley player that has sulked and been substituted ?
How do you explain his brilliant goal and performance against Man United at OT a few days after Sunderland.

Did Dyche even question his attitude after that Sunderland game ? If you check the post match interview he certainly did not and actually pointed out how great his attitude had been and that it was not Ings’ fault that there had been a lot of speculation.

Don’t care much for Van Gaal but credit to him after that game quite rightly admitting we were the better side.
Ings goal that night was brilliant but Vydra’s today was even better and far more unexpected !!

Some daft stuff on here and injuries aside Liverpool clearly believed in Ings but the form of Mane, Firminho and Salah was a major factor.

Credit the lad for wanting to play instead of sitting on his arse and a move to Southampton was spot on for him.

He's the only one I can recall, who else is there? Dyche certainly did mention that was why he subbed him.
I've never mentioned any other games.
People who know the club better than me say he would never be welcomed back at the club because of his attitude when leaving and has been discussed on here previously.

Show me a link that Dyche said that in the post match interview. I’ve just listened to it and he says the exact opposite you are suggesting.
Are you saying he changed his mind and said something different after the post match interview ? Because if he did you could be questioning Dyche rather than Ings.

Ings' attitude stank in the second half of the season although some will mistakenly say he was loyal to the end.
No Burnley player should ever be shaking hands with opposition players as they are substituted wearing a Burnley shirt, as Ings' did at Anfield.
And while others will not accept it , Ings chickened out of that penalty v Leicester.
My thoughts when he went were good riddance

He is having a great season for Southampton and his goal today was only overshadowed by Vydra scoring one of our goals of the season.

I kind of agree with that.
Right now I would give Vydra maximum credit for sticking with it as his contract should expect.

I knew Ings' heart wasn't in it when he passed that penalty to Matt Taylor against Leicester at Burnley.

If that had gone in, we could well of stayed up that season.

Make no bones about it. When he was at Burnley he was neck and neck with Harry Kane as being one of the best up and coming stars. Documented injuries have unfortunately blighted his career. However if he can maintain his current fitness/form, I think he will have a great chance of representing England this summer. Nothing but admiration for Danny and he was part one of our best recent top two partnerships with Vokes.

...and then there's the unquestionable attitude of the perceived demi-god Robbie Blake when leaving the subs bench he applauded the opposition fans - Wigan was it?

Personally glad to see Danny fit and enjoying his football - apart from scoring yesterday . He's had horrible "luck" with injuries. i would have liked him to sign a new contract but it's time to forget. I prefer to think of the positive things the lad has done in his career - for chaity and the disabled - and the goals he scored for us.

Spot on.
After that Sunderland game where Ings attitude is being questioned have a listen to what SD says and see if there is any hint that he has a bad attitude

Compare that to Robbie Blake for example who refused to play and was talking to at least 2 clubs with a view to leaving us....and then at a later date under Laws had more than a questionable bad attitude.

I don’t think it is too late to get Vydra liking life again.... he has given himself a shot at re-building here and playing Premier football on the back of that... now he has to prove it wasn’t a flash in the powder pan. Maybe SD is finally seeing what he wanted to see in Vydra’s eyes.

I knew Ings' heart wasn't in it when he passed that penalty to Matt Taylor against Leicester at Burnley.

If that had gone in, we could well of stayed up that season.
You cant say that...
