Hamstring injuries

Post by Nonayforever » Sat Feb 15, 2020 9:36 pm

Two games played today after the short winter break & 3 players going off in the first 30 mins or so suffering from hamstring injury.
Our Chris Wood, a Southampton player & Sam Byram from Norwich.

I don't know what percentage that makes but it must be more than a coincidence coming from warmer climes & then playing in bad weather.

We didn’t go away.
Wood has had a hamstring niggle a few times this season. When you keep on getting a player fit who has a niggle eventually it’s going to go.

Was thinking the same thing. How long till some managers start complaining that the winter break is causing injuries?

They're just not worked as hard.

Once a week running around won't impact those muscles half as much as training every other day and an intense 8-10km run around a pitch once a week.

They can't run fast enough to pull hammys.

And so how long can Wood expect to be out for? Vydra may have come good today but can’t be expected to carry the can for the rest of the season.

I’ve terrible hamstrings, when they go I literally have bruises from the blood. Feel for him, I can’t even put my socks on these days they’re that bad

It seems to take longer to get them right nowadays. They are a lot more careful. Many used to come back to soon and rip it again.

With good reason. I think Owens career was severely hampered by his. Had they managed them properly would possibly (probably) been Englands best striker ever

I did think when Norwich were holding Liverpool after an hour that Klopp may blame the winter break for his team being rusty.

Yea. Ryan Giggs suffered early in his career. Ended up doing ballet exercises to keep them as supple as possible.
