Bad weather uncovers some history

Spotted in Wales. A P38 American WW2 plane that crash landed off the coast of wales. Uncovered during the storm this week.

First found in the seventies, it gets covered again then a storm uncovers it.
This is the fourth time I think.

But the Mustang was a one engine single seater fighter.

It would have to be a microscopic picture to think that it was one.

Is it me or is there an airman sat in the main intact section looking towards the camera?

I thought they would try and recover it being a peice of history, probably break up though whilst trying to do it and be too expensive.

You could say that, they say some things are best left where there are, I can't think of a better prime example, too far off being intact & mother nature will have her say regardless.

There was a twin fuselage version of the Mustang which could be confused with a P38

Pretty safe bet it’s neither.

By coincidence, the same month this P38 crashed in 1942, another one crashed just to the east of Hurstwood village.

I’ve heard that before is it still there? Also heard there’s another I think near Stoodley pike.

I was reading about it the other day, they’ve spent millions in the past trying to save them and they turned to dust within 12 months due to the corrosion when they’ve been pulled from sea water
