Chris Wood injury.

Has there been anything released information wise?

As well as Vydra played on Saturday with Wood out for a period of time and Ash still on the way back we are potentially very short on striking options.

Let's hope it's a strain and nothing more sinister..

The latest I heard is that he's being assessed.

We won't find anything out until the press conference, but with a full weeks training we might be playing 451 with Brownhill coming into the side

I'd be surprised if we went 4-5-1 at home to Bournemouth.

Away to Man City maybe, but Vydra is buzzing, so would be surprised if we didn't stick with 4-4-2.

Saturday might see the most foreign sounding front 2 we've ever had starting a game at the Turf, even though ones from Burnley!!

Definitely 4 4 2, I doubt Wood will be back for the next 2 games at least, even if it is the slightest niggle imaginable. That's the way of the club since SD came in.
Hopefully Ash will be back before then, but even he will have to earn his slot. We don't do changing winning teams, unless it is forced on us.

Unless Wood is available, which would appear to be doubtful for a game or two, we should stick with JR and Vydra. Even if Barnes was fully fit I would see no reason to replace a guy who will be on a high with one who hasn't scored in ages anyway. Vydra will be so bloody hungry I doubt if there will be a more motivated player at the club right now. As for going 4-5-1 at home, to Bournemouth, that would be madness. And why do it anyway when you have a striker who will be buzzing, unless someone is suggesting dropping JR, which I very much doubt. .

I'm not convinced he trusts Vydra to play a full game.

We will see.

He got 65 mins last week, so he can start him and assess his fitness later in the game

Normally when Wood gets injured, he is a slow healer.

If it’s just a normal hamstring we are not seeing him again for about 8 weeks.

So we need the best partnership from our 3 fit strikers, anyone’s guess which two from three it could be.

The one thing we saw was Vids was out on his feet so cannot do 90 minutes yet. So perhaps the Simple solution is Vids for 60 minutes then bring on Barnes in the next game.

That's one option he could take, but if there's no other forward option on the bench it would mean going 451 if he had to come off.

Dyche is more likely to start 451 and then bring the 2nd striker on around 65 minutes.

Hopefully Wood is fit anyhow.

Even if Wood "appears" fit personally I'd bench him. The last thing you want is it flaring up again after 20 minutes and actually being worse, plus the guy who replaced him did well and deserves another chance.

Would be astounded if Wood pulls his boots on this Saturday. Perhaps the more pertinent question is; how far off is Ashley Barnes from making the bench?

Expect the 11 to be those that finished the game at Southampton

I'm also dubious as to whether Vydra will get a start, despite his overall good showing at Southampton. What I would say is that Bournemouth at home is probably a decent game to test whether he's up to starting. They're a little lightweight.

Dyche is a believer of, you get a chance take the opportunity if the shirt when it arises.
Vydra will be on cloud 9, I'd give him a start, especially at home when we are flying.
He's bagged v this lot before, and I fancy our chances with the ball on the deck a little more.

If he needs to come off on 70 mins so be it, we could well be infront then anyway and use it to protect the lead and give Brownhill a taste of the action at home for the last 20

Reckon Vydra has earned a start. Apart from his superb goal, he didn't play badly.
Always thought he gets knocked off the ball a bit easy though.

Neither Wood or Barnes will be close to fitness this weekend. Barnes is some way off yet and any hamstring is a least a couple of weeks. So I would expect to see Pope, Lowton or Bards, Mee, Tarks , Taylor, Hendrick, Cork, Westy, McNeil, Jay Rod, Vydra assuming we have no unreported injuries. We really are down to the bare bones now. No reason at all not to start Vydra, he has to be buzzing and full of confidence

Vyds definitely deserves a start after that goal.

Imagine how he would feel to be dropped after a goal like that and all the support he got from the fans and the media.

He HAS to play, surely?

Definitely the ideal game for him to start.

It'll be a kick in the teeth if he doesn't get awarded a start after sealing 3 points for us, unless of course Wood is fit to play.

I don't think Bournemouth are a little lightweight. They have big, physical defenders like Cook, Ake and Francis and the likes of Billing and Lerma in midfield.

Their players don’t appear lightweight but trust me, they play like a bunch of lightweights.

Very few hamstrings are taking that long to heal in recent years. We are getting players come back after 2 or 3 weeks now on a regular basis - like Mane for example. Obviously all depends on the severity of the injury but the treatment and recovery seems to have advanced.
Wood has felt his hamstring a few times this season so did think it was inevitable it was at some point going to go.

A couple of years ago New Zealand played him the week after he had pulled his hamstring in that play off game. The second leg was the week after and they put him on the bench and brought him on - that was madness and he ended up being injured for a while for us after that.

Jermaine Jenas, on BT comms, said Barnes available B’mouth game. Poster previous to this said he’s a couple of weeks off. I’ll wait until Saturday or SDs presser.
We played so much more football with Jay & Vydra I’d stick with them short term.

Players coming from injury generally begin life back on the bench, but Barnes as an option would of course be a nice bonus, especially if Wood is out.

When we bought him My mate a Leeds fan pointed out he is a slow healer. Each time he has been injured I have noted he takes longer than most others to recover.

So let’s see, but don’t expect to see him for a prolonged period.

I'm guessing that means he's doing a bit of light training, but not joining in with the rest of the lads. No chance of being in the squad this weekend going off that.

Would start with Vydra and Jay and if not going to plan or if Vydra having an off day move Hendrick to play behind Jay and give Brownhill a 20 minute home debut. Having said that we really are down to the bare bones. The idea of having Gibson go on loan to Watford for the rest of the season in exchange for Andre Gray to come on our bench until May, does not now sound too ridiculous. After all its unlikely Gibson will wear a Burnley shirt again

Jay has certainly played well and showed he is the best footballing forward that we have (in my opinion). But let's not forget how good a fit Ashley Barnes is. Barnes is also a very underrated footballer.

It wouldn't have sounded ridiculous during the transfer window, but it does now. We can't sign anyone till the close season; nor can Watford.

We can't afford to rush Barnes and Wood back, also too much of a risk to play Vydra who's not match fit regardless of his heroics last week, we can't afford to play Vydra and Rodriguez together with the lack of options we currently have. Get Lennon on the wing and Hendrick playing behind Jay. Wouldn't introduce Brownhill until we are safe
