Who had a rattle?

Post by Tricky Trevor » Tue Feb 18, 2020 7:42 pm

For the football not in your cot.
I did but I’ve never seen one this big and he was using it. Norway fan at the biathlon.

Yeh, I had one in the late fifties and, like Leisure, mine was also painted claret and blue. I used to stand right on the railings to the right of the Beehole End goals with my pals cheering and rattling on my heroes.

Had one painted claret and blue and in my teenage years would stand behind the Cricket Field end goal except when Liverpool or Everton were the visitors.

Same here, it was quite loud as well, and a claret and blue top hat, late 60s.

Yes I had a rattle that I painted claret and blue in the early 60's and stood on the longside, does anyone remember the plastic stars you could buy with the picture of your favourite player on them , I had about 5 or 6 pinned to my bobble hat :D

That sums up my Christmas present of a trainset!

I came downstairs and there it was, all set up on it's own board. Before I got to play with it, my uncle and aunt arrived. Uncle gets down with dad and they turn it on and away it goes. Then they decide that they could change the layout! Up comes all the track from the board and away they go. You can imagine the time that took....magnify that for a young lad, yet to play with his brand new trainset!

The trainset is in my loft now! Don't think I ever got much time with it! Trix. 3 rails, which is unusual. Must flig it one day and free myself!😄 I remember I had the metal farm animals to play with!

I had a rattle, but my gran used to use it more than me. Had a scarf and bobble hat my Mum knitted for me. And I had a Turfy Topper badge, which I still wear.

Used to sit on my dads shoulders till I got too heavy then moved on to the obligatory home made stool painted claret and blue. Vividly remember sitting on his shoulders at Leeds Rd cup tie in 57. Had a rattle but like everything my dad made me it was too heavy !! My home made sledge was like a tank and went half the speed of other kids sledges plus it needed 2 to pull it back up the slope !!! Mum of course knitted the scarf and bobble cap. My dad would have been a 100 in 9 days time and I still miss him every. Would have been awesome to discuss the Vydra and J Rod goals with him

Probably my first football memory is of my two elder sisters sporting the player stars, one had John Connelly, the other Ray Pointer.

My buffet was sky blue and made by my dad! . (I wasn't posh enough for a stool!) I would take up position on it on the Longside wall. I can still picture it now, Happy days!

I still have one in the loft, It was an old air raid warning alarm, it has an issue stamp on it(My grandad was a warden so I'm guessing it was his) painted claret and blue and used to have ribbons on it. Weighs a ton but makes a right good racket.

Must have been in the same area at similar times. Had to be up against the wall so no one could push me off. Also had to wait till the crowd went before leaving.

I had one which was used to full effect in a game against Spurs in 1962 which we won 2 1. My Dad and I caught the 1 o'clock Ribble from Littleborough and were in our Wing Stand seats by 2pm (cost 7 shillings and 3/6) total 50p in today's money. I seem to remember the police allowing people to sit behind the goal line as the ground was full. Crowd of around 45000!

My Dad told me that a relative( I think) of ours took one to the 62 cup final. As the players ran onto the pitch he accidentally knocked his Dad out with it. His Dad missed the whole game laid up in an emergency room.
