any one had any ghostly experiences ?

Post by Untinted Glasses » Tue Feb 18, 2020 9:17 pm

Just moved home around 8 weeks ago. Last week I woke to footsteps across the landing, i presumed it was my daughter off to the bathroom, but no lights came on so i checked and she was in bed.
Later that night my wife sat up in bed, i said what's up, she said she could here footsteps on the landing, I then heard them, jumped out of bed and again the kids were fast asleep.
I told my wife it was my daughter so she wouldn't worry.

Now last night my son called out and woke me up in the middle of the night.

Just now I said to my lad , oh yea don't be shouting waking me up in the middle of the night again , he replied " Dad you was on the landing" I said i was in bed, and he laughed and said " dad I could here you walking across the landing" at this point I just said ah yea.

Spooky **** .

I have also heard things being dropped in the rooms when the house is empty . The house is around 300 years old.

No.

Nobody has had any ghostly experiences.

Some folk might think they have. They are wrong.

Ditto, a few occasions. I was on holiday with my family last year and my step Dad brought a story up one night about a house we lived in 15 years earlier and I had a similar experience whilst sat at home studying for my GCSEs. Long story but our experience was identical.

I know what happened, I’m not scared by it really, it’s quite cool

Had too many to mention but I will just be called a mentalist by some so I won't bother going into detail as I must have been suffering from psychotic episodes repeatedly

We've moved now, but I regularly spoke to my wife as I heard her come up the steps and walk behind me towards the bathroom as I worked. Problem is, she wasn't in the house.

Why would the age of anything matter? people die all the time yet ghosts are always 2-3-500 years old?? Did they stop after the 1800s?

On a skiing holiday, me and a mate sharing a room, i woke up and there was a figure in the corner, wearing hat and ski coat, it walked alongside my mates bed who was asleep and i thought why is it not falling over ruck sacks and ski gear on the floor. Put my head under the duvet and thought i was seeing things.

Day after on bus back to airport, a guy who was in the room below us shouted out i saw a ghost last night and described exactly what i had seen. I had not mentioned my experience to anyone.

Aye. When I was 18 me and a mate went backpacking round Europe and on dry warm nights, in order to save hostel/campsite money, we'd sleep in the open on benches in graveyards.

I don't believe in ghosts or the superphysical , I don't believe in much really not even my own tripe.

But many many years ago on a family holiday in a cottage in north Wales I experienced the most uncomfortable fear and strangest phenomenon gripped by terror beyond belief to the point I couldn't even move or check on my then young children to see if they were ok. Which is totally against my grain and character.

I've never experienced anything like it before or since and wouldn't wish it on anyone. An almost primitive fear skin as cold as ice hairs stood like needles on my neck.

I still put it down to being under immense stress at the time. But my God did it rattle my nerve at the time.

I used to own a factory which had a ghost.
Six different people saw the same ghost on 6 seperate occasions & all 6 hadn't spoken to each other about what they had seen, yet all 6 saw exactly the same thing.
I asked the former mill owner if he knew of any past deaths in the factory & he laughed asking if we had seen a ghost, but no, there had been no deaths to his knowledge.

My brother in law as a child used to have an imaginary friend by the name of Neil. He was about three at the time. Strange name for an imaginary friend of a child but there you go.

‘Neil’ was always in the living room by the fireplace.

Anyway many years later my nephew who was then around two or three himself and had only just started talking. He was sat in the living room and pointed to the fireplace. And said ‘neils over there’.

Strange that there is not a single piece of proof that ghosts exist. Well it’s not strange, it’s because they don’t.

The human brain is very complex. We have all experienced strange phenomena at times, I’m sure. Yet there is always an explanation far far more likely than the work of dead people.

Religion and ghosts, the human brain has developed into something amazing.

Yet some use it for shite thoughts.

I don't believe in gods or the afterlife. But I wonder how many of those denying the existence of ghosts believe in a God. Ghosts and ghouls and fairies and the like it's ridiculous isn't it, or is it. Bertrand Russell and his teapot agnostics rule OK.

My grandmother died the week before my son was born. When he was about 18 months old, he got chicken pox and was really quite poorly with it needed hospitalisation for a very high temperature. When we got home, he scared us because he kept crying out in pain at random times, but seemed to settle himself after a few minutes. The thing is, he learnt new words whilst ill, and he kept saying “manny lady” as he settled down, whilst staring into the corner of the room (same corner).

Fast forward a few months and my dad got a photo album out of the family and there were pictures of everyone in the family, including my grandmother. My son insisted that the picture was “manny lady” - someone he’d never seen before and who had died before he was born.

Such a weird story that has no explanation. Might just be pure coincidence that two unrelated three year olds both saw an imaginary figure called Neil in the same spot ten years apart.

Thinking about it, may have been more sinister. May have been pointing into the fire and telling me to Neil there

In all seriousness though 100% true story.

Is it more likely that creaky floorboards are caused by dodgy plumbing or a dead person? Seriously?

If you wake up and see someone stood at the bottom of your bed, it’s more likely that there is actually someone stood at the bottom of your bed. Maybe a burglar or a serial killer. It’s more likely that what you are seeing is a trick of the brain. Perhaps you’re dreaming. What it definitely isn’t is a dead person. Do you know how I know that? It’s because dead people are dead.

How did you know about the Floor boards?

A few chilling experiences, but nothing which can't be explained rationally. Old buildings with creaks as they heat up/cool down, drafts blowing things over, shadows, etc.

What I have learn't is that the mind can play all sorts of tricks on with you. The most chilling times have been when out at night taking photos, in the middle of no where, with no moon. In the blackness the mind can change the slightest noise into footsteps walking towards you, it definitely gets the heart pounding.

Are ghosts any more plausible than the tooth fairy? And if so can you explain how?
I saw the tooth Fairy in December...it cost me a grand to see her...I definitely saw her! :D

Exactly. If you listen or look hard enough you will often see or hear what you are trying to see or hear.

It is thought that only 20% of what we see is actually from our eyes. The other 80% is the brain telling us what we’ve seen based on our memory. Pretty incredible really.

In the days where everyone carries around with them a HD camera, it’s amazing that no one has managed to capture one

Have you got any proof?
Yes. I've never seen one.

That's all the proof I need.
