Does anyone remember people bringing in milk crates for kids to stand on to be able to see.

We were posh, my father brought the milkman along for me to stand on, kept my feet warm as well.

Re: Crates
In my young days it was going to the back corner of the Beehole and Longside, where you could find a loose brick or soon dig one out of the ground to stand/balance on. If you did right, you'd place the brick right upto the step at the end of the game to minimalist the chance of someone tripping on it.
