"Find my mobile" feature on phone - ever used it?
I've had a Samsung Galaxy for years, but never actually used the "Find My Mobile" feature, which I probably should.
Has anybody activated this feature and needed it to catch someone who stole your phone?

My daughter used it on my phone after I'd dropped it getting into my car. She was able to get a map showing which streets it had traveled on and where it had been and could track it whilst it was moving in Yorkshire. Don't know just how she did it though.

Okay, here is the time to admit it. Some years ago when it was an early-ish feature we (my wife and I) used it to track the whereabouts of our youngest daughter a couple of times. It does work - trust me.

I'm guessing you dropped it in your car, and it had tracked where you'd driven?
Or had someone picked it up and it tracked where they had gone with it?

Re: "Find my mobile" feature on phone - ever used it?
My sister was once in a bar in Lytham and had her phone pulled from underneath her handbag at the table. She realised within a few seconds what had happened and rather foolishly (in my opinion) ran with her husband and jumped in a taxi outside.
Her husband had all the family phones tracked on his phone and they asked the taxi driver to follow their instructions as they travelled around Lytham following my sisters moving iPhone!
They eventually headed up a cul-de-sac where three teenagers were stood outside a car. They quickly fled but the phone had stopped moving. It was found in a bush right next to where the lads had been stood. She had her phone back!

Lytham I hear you say, surely you are mistaken. Those kind of things do not happen in Lytham, surely you meant St. Anne’s.

Apparently Barclays have a similar system in place, tracks how much time you spend away from your desk. Technology huh.

If you DO find her in bed with another man, don't murder them both

You'll need your phone first. Where did you put it?

Useful feature - the Mrs lost hers on a night out and blocked the phone remotely and presented a contact number on it, for whoever had it to contact her.
We traced the phone and could have followed it to the exact location but fortunately the person that found it called us.

I didn't, but I saw it on the news.
Re: "Find my mobile" feature on phone - ever used it?
Yes, first hand experience which is the only reason why I got my phone back.
Re: "Find my mobile" feature on phone - ever used it?
First of all I tracked it to a local repair garage and went there. They did seem a bit surprised when I told them that I knew that my phone had been there! A parts delivery driver had just been in and they said he was on his way to Halifax. I keep ringing the phone and eventually he answered. I told him that I knew that he had my phone and I could track where he was. He returned it an hour later!FactualFrank wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 5:30 pmSo what happened in the end? Were they going to keep it, or did they pick it up to try and track you down to give it back?

My first reason for knowing about the feature was an Asian guy at work told me about his family member in Birmingham.
Basically there’s a knock at the door, misses answers and 4 masked men burst in. They take lots of stuff including the young lads iPhone.
Police arrive , young lad about 12 keeps saying they didn’t take my iPad. After a few minutes one copper finally asks him why that’s important.
He tells them he can tell the police where his phone is.
He guides them to the place where the four guys are sat in a car.
Nicked with all the gear on them.
That was several years ago.

Now my other half tracks me when I have been away and can time tea to be ready for when I walk through the door.

I have McAfee on all my devices.
Can go on the lap top, ring the phone, block it and turn the camera on if needed.
Last time I misplaced it looked round couldn't find it so tracked it.
Was in the house, thankfully hadn't started the cycle on the washer

Sounds like he'd have kept it had you not been able to track it.Leisure wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 6:04 pmFirst of all I tracked it to a local repair garage and went there. Don't know. He sounded genuine and I gave him £10 when he returned it.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 6:37 pmSounds like he'd have kept it had you not been able to track it.

Tis true Icu, however, it is something I hear said on a regular basis. There is crime over here, no different to anywhere else, for many people they are in denial about, it is bizarre.
Another one is that if there is a crime it is never a Lythamer, always an outsider, again untrue, doesn’t stop people saying it though.
