That used to be my understanding but this is from the Premier League Rules -
R.11.3. the away club shall pay for the entirety of the tickets so ordered save that it may return (and not pay for) any unsold tickets in the final Seating Block for which it ordered tickets if it has sold 50% of the tickets in that Seating Block.
That rule seems to imply that in this case if we had taken the Top Tier (and from the apparently low level of sales I'm not suggesting that we shouldn't have returned them) then providing that we had sold 50% of them then we wouldn't have had to pay for the unsold tickets.

'obviously sales have been poor so the club have sent back the 1500 or else they would have had to pay for any unsold'

Re: 2019/20: Manchester City v Burnley - Ticket Information
Unless I've missed something, the tickets were only been on sale for a week.
A week that was at the end of the month, when most people will have been waiting to be paid.
So people, expecting the 3000 allocation, hung back until being paid to get their tickets
The club decide that as the uptake wasn't what initially expected, to send half the tickets back so not left with unsold tickets
It does seem that the club cant do right for doing wrong with the ticket allocations at the moment

Even with a win on Saturday we'd have only shifted another 300 or 400 max I reckon. I've been critical in the past but don't think anyone can knock the club this time.wilks_bfc wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 2:54 pmUnless I've missed something, the tickets were only been on sale for a week.

Re: 2019/20: Manchester City v Burnley - Ticket Information
I don't doubt that tbh, however the club statement is usually "taken initial x amount, with potential of further y", so people know that if they want to be sure to go they had better get them when they can.
By the club taking the high y amount, people may have thought they had more time to get them so not rushed to get them

Careful there, I mentioned using a credit card for the Everton tickets and one of the bedwetters made it sound like I had asked people to put their house at risk by going into debt

Why fickle? Have we ever not sold a lot for city, we should take the full allocation, just like we should at Newcastle and Everton to name a couple, a quick glance on here and social media showed the interest , or do staff at the club not have access to such things
Re: 2019/20: Manchester City v Burnley - Ticket Information
I must of missed something, is this game being played tomorrow night, I know myself and good number of my friends we’re going to buy them this weekend , there’s still over a week and a half to go till we play them

They did initially take the full allocation (3000) but even though they've now even got down to General Sale we still had only sold half of them! Why fickle - well we certainly haven't sold a lot this time!Grumps wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 5:00 pmWhy fickle? Re: 2019/20: Manchester City v Burnley - Ticket Information
We initially took 3000 but as we've only sold 1500 (bottom and middle tiers) we've now sent back the top tier (1500).
Re: 2019/20: Manchester City v Burnley - Ticket Information
We know that, but we have sold out a week an a half before the game, there’s lots of fans can’t decide if they can go to an away game three weeks before it’s played , i for one have been waiting to see if i can swap a shift at work, then I had planned to get my tickets Saturday

There won’t be 1500 people like you. You’re morning they’ve sent 1500 back, I’m saying they’ve called it right. There won’t be 1500 people seeing if they can swap shifts etc

Tickets went on sale in the ticket office on 24th feb, giving us 3 weeks to get tickets, final sales on Friday 13tb March, it doesn’t say anywhere that we’ve only got a week to sell so many or we are sending tickets back, we have sold 1500 in near enough the first week

Everyone has had ample opportunity to get tickets, you can't expect the club to hold on to an extra 1500 tickets if say 200 more decide to go
They get things wrong, but this time they absolutely haven't

Not really....its only Tuesday. Spurs Saturday and city a week later. They did the same with Everton I smell tourist prices for tourist fans. Maybe I should have purchased one on the first day.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 1:04 pmWe sent 1500 back, says as much on the club website.

Everyone with 6000, 4000, 2000 points, Season Ticket holders with less than 2000 and even non-season ticket holders have had a chance to buy them but we only sold 1500. How can anyone think that we would then sell anywhere near the 1500 in the Top Tier?

Why would you need to go to the ticket office?
I strongly suspect you weren’t even going anyway and you’re just using this as a reason to have a go at the club.

To be fair people have no idea what we can get when we can get them and when they are going back. Unless you have loads of points and your group are on a similar level you can’t plan to go and sit together.
And have better things to do than faff about.
Will get a ticket anyway if we want one. But sending them back after being in general sale a couple of days is strange.

They need to be clearer with how many tickets we can get how many have sold and how many left.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 2:14 pmYeah I saw that, think eventually the club will just start taking half allocation for all games. Not sure the club should be expected to see how the few results of the few previous games have gone, are we are likely to win and do the cherry pickers have this game down on their list.
I wouldn't blame them either it is hardly worth the effort
It’s always cloak and dagger with tickets for some reason.

I genuinely didn’t even know they’d gone on general sale. My fault of course. But problem is there’s nothing clear with tickets these days.
Had they even just said were have 1,500 with the option of an extra 1,500’ or ‘we have 3,000 but will return 1,500 if we have only sold x by date y’ surely that would’ve helped fans understand the position?
I’m not overly bothered as il get one if I want one. And funnily enough I always manage to sit with who I want getting them this way. Planning in advance would mean I would have to sit in one seat possibly in one tier with members of our group on lesser points (nephews who aren’t old enough to travel alone) will only be able to get one sat on their own elsewhere.

I agree they could have said 1500 and 1500 more depending on sales, for whatever reason they didn’t but you can’t blame them for sending 1500 back.
Re: 2019/20: Manchester City v Burnley - Ticket Information
Why not? Current form, 3pm kick off, easy access, I think we'd have sold most of them
Re: 2019/20: Manchester City v Burnley - Ticket Information
Well I don't think we would have and more importantly the club didn't think that we would either. If we'd only sold 1500 after they had gone on General Sale then I really don't see how we'd have shifted another 1500!
