Tesco - horizon parking
Hi, I'm just wondering if anybody has received a letter regarding this company, I went over the 2hrs at Tesco's in clitheroe they are asking for £70 but as a goodwill gesture it's £20 if I pay within 14 days, are they legally enforceable? I might just stump up the £20 & put it to bed, first time I've had 1 I don't usually exceed the allotted free time, thanks in advance.

So basically there's no way of escaping the fine, I'll pay it's the sensible option.

Were you in Tescos for the full duration?
If you can prove it then go to the store and get them to cancel it.

Tesco have handed the responsibility over to a management company. They won’t want anything to do with it and they can’t cancel it even if they wanted to.

On the same subject, Sainsbury's in Burnley offer three hours free parking. Ideal for home matches.

Why would you ever pay up to a private car parking company? Treat it with the contempt it deserves and Chuck any correspondence in the bin and ignore. It will go away.
Re: Tesco - horizon parking
I would smile and pay up, it's really not worth the aggro and further costs later down the line. For uses of Tesco it's worth noting that they are using vans with telescopic poles in order to check parking.

You’ve played the game 99% of us have and been caught, just pay up mate and take it in the chin. £20 isnt bad considering you’d probably pay £3 anyway for 2 hours on a car park

Just pay it.
Can understand people trying to get out of an extortionate parking fine, but £20 for parking unfairly on someone else's property is probably quite reasonable

In that case, I agree ! Tried to pull a fast one, got caught, take your medicine !
Rather more interestingly, the " Waterloo Mill " site, opposite Clitheroe Tesco's, was where the development of Sir Frank Whittle's Jet engine was relocated to, from Birmingham during WW2 !

I recently tried to shop at Tesco in Cltheroe but couldn't,t find a parking place, some selfish buggers parked there and didn't,even shop
I spent a hour driving round until a space became available, drinks petrol does my car, so I reckon that jakubclaret owes me at least £50. Where do I send the invoice?

I agree, it's sound & sensible advice & I never knew about the WW2 jet engines involvement with the Waterloo mill site, it does sound interesting.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 7:50 pmIn that case, I agree ! Tried to pull a fast one, got caught, take your medicine !

Re: Tesco - horizon parking
That's technically true, but if in fact you were in Tesco doing a long shop, having lunch, perhaps, and have the receipt to prove it, then Tesco might refund the cost of the obviously unfair ticket.
And if they won't, make sure they know that in no uncertain terms you will refuse to ever shop there again, copy letters to the store manager, the area manager, the managing director, the chairman. It won't help you, but if they think they are losing customers, they might (or might not!) pay attention.
If you weren't shopping at Tesco, then it's a fair cop.
Re: Tesco - horizon parking
I’m still annoyed at Tesco’s for knocking down the snooker hall to build their Clitheroe store.

Re: Tesco - horizon parking
Some years ago I drove to Hull, when we won 1 nil Delfounso only touch, I was with my nephew and we stopped at Ferrybridge had a coffee 40 mins later left. Where I parked in Hull was close to the ground I took pics of KC stadium and in shot were some Clarets coaches, significant. After the game we stopped at Ferrybridge on the way home Coffee, sandwich 45 mins back on the road. A week later I received a letter including Photographs of my car arriving around 4.30 and leaving sometime before midnight no shots of me leaving for the match or arriving after the match and a threat to take my car if I didn't pay £70. Obviously I wasn't having any of it I rang the operators I explained I had pictures of my car in Hull with number plates on coaches that could be traced etc. He apologised but I wasn't happy I'd read a couple of weeks earlier of an elderly couple that paid out of fear when they didn't need to a few national daily papers had run that story and the Mirror fighting the couples corner. I wrote a letter to the Mirror including copies of all evidence they covered the elderly couple again including reference to other incidents, mine included and for my troubles the car park operators sent me £100 of M&S vouchers, I don't visit M&S but they got used.

Has anyone used the YourParkingSpace app for Tesco Centenary Way on Matchdays?
£3.50 to park there for 5 hours. Not paid it yet until I know it's legit and someone can tell me it works!!
There must be a catch somewhere, I understand Horizon run the car park but make no mention of paying extra to stay over 2 hours on their website.
Grateful for any info.

Not used it for Burnley Tesco, but have used it quite a few times, including parking at Tescos across from Old Trafford for the league cup game last season.
Have parked there, B&Q for Wigan and a school for Sunderland with no issues at all

We've used yourparkingspace a few times including B&Q at Wigan. Been fine every time we've used them, the best one being at Birmingham when we were really late getting there and knowing there was a parking space for us.

I used it yesterday to park in centre of Liverpool. When I got there it was someone's private drive, with a gate and everything. Just 2-3 mins walk from where I was going. Fiver for 6 hours parking. Bang on.

Ngl I’d love to see JakubClaret make a lawyer question their very existence after witnessing some of his lines of logic and ambiguous answers.
Deffo pay it though Jakub, wouldn’t want to see you have to get sedated driving about to get by with the stress of a higher fine/potential court case

Definitely use YourParkingSpace. Totally legit and good value for money. Went to see Ricky Gervais recently at the M&S Arena Liverpool and parked up in Leo’s Casino car park just off the main road. £5.50 for around 8 hours and about a 5-10 minute walk from the place. Think they were charging £20 on the official car park

Dreadful advice, they will pursue you, it’s what they do.
They don’t however have any rights to identify the driver of any vehicle and will have written to the “keeper” of the vehicle.
There are many templates of responses available online to challenge this and refuse to identify the driver and they then have no method of pursuing the money, which is in effect an invoice only, not any form of prosecution.

Thanks. That's what I expected, we also used the same parking app, but booked a space about 600 yards north of the stadium in the direction of Deansgate (for the same price) and were home in less than an hour!.
We will do the same this year.
