What a game today, very entertaining in difficult condition.

Pope 8 Bossed his area when needed and made a couple of saves
Taylor 7
Tarks 8
Mee 7
Bardsley 7
McNeil 9* showed today his best position is an attacking midfielder, so dangerous with the ball at his feet.
Cork 8
Westwood 8
Hendrick 7
Jay 8
Vydra 9 - worked hard, bet he is gutted he didn’t slot home the first chance. Took his goal really well

Glad we have VAR, not seen the first goal disallowed for handball. But the penalty handball was a stonewaller. Great to see Vids get a start and play well. Well done him for waiting his turn and proving he is an asset to us. Wood and Barnes need to fight to get back in the team now.

An enjoyable game in difficult conditions, rough on Bournemouth as they had the decisions go against them, but hey that’s whats VAR is for. Both teams created a number of chances and both keepers made important saves.
Vydra played well, McNeill was class, Pope superb just what you want in weather like this a decisive keeper.
This last few weeks Hendrick has played well and Rodriguez has been the key, his link up play and movement is excellent and because of him we have become a better footballing side. First with Wood and now with Vydra, the ball is played on the deck and through the lines, rather than being constantly lumped forward to say Barnes and Wood.
Should we go long now it is either by design or necessity. A fantastic few weeks and some excellent football as results to match, only 3 points off 5th and the much vaunted Sheffield Utd. Onwards and upwards Clarets.

We got the rub of the green with the decisions, but we also outplayed Bournemouth and deserved the three points.

Pope - 8 - a couple of excellent saves and handled very well in tricky conditions.

Bardsley - 7 - a superb last ditch tackle early on was as good as a goal, and after that he was generally solid enough even if he offered precious little going forwards.

Taylor - 7 - a couple of slightly shaky moments defensively but tidy enough on the ball and carried his usual threat.

Tarkowski- 8 - dealt with the conditions better than any other defender on show.

Mee - 7 - not quite as assured as Tarks, and caught out a couple of times by the conditions first half, but he will be pleased with a solid shift overall.

Westwood - 8 - snapped around in midfield to good intent and generally used the ball slickly, particularly once he'd decided that the early channel ball wasnt really the one for the occasion.

Cork- 7 - steady and reliable and did the basics well on an afternoon that demanded it.

Hendrick- 7 - another unflashy but quietly effective enough afternoon.

McNeil- 9 - the player who mastered the conditions better than any other throughout the 90, with a couple of glorious through balls for Vydra capped by the assist for the opening goal, before he took total control of the game at 2-0 up. The goal was richly deserved reward.

Rodriguez - 8 - needs stop missing gilt edged sitters at the back post at the Jimmy Mac end, but other than that as a consummate a display of link up forward play as you will see, particularly allowing for the conditions.

Vydra - 8 - bright and lively and could have had a hat trick, but took is goal well and thoroughly deserved his ovation.

Lennon 7 - neat cameo.

Well, on another day we might have been one down after 20 minutes, and pegged back to 1-1 on the hour. From brief replays in the ground, both looked more possible or probable errors by Dean than definite.

But other than those two moments, we played the better football and dealt with conditions better than Bournemouth. They dictated much of the first half and Pope had to make a couple of alert saves to keep the sheet clean, but at the other end we probably had as many presentable openings, particularly two that Ramsdale saved from Vydra when through. After half time we took control and controlled the game- and once two nil up some of the football was superb.

The last two home matches have seen two of the most enterprising performances for ages at the Turf - long may it continue. 13 points from 15 is a fabulous return.

Funny old game football. We were clearly second best first half and lucky to go in level with some below par performances, though Vydra had started to show glimpses getting in behind twice. Second half much improved and the penalty decision knocked them completely off it and from then we were absolutely superb.

Pope 8 some vital stops
Bardsley 6 struggled v king first half, settled second.
Taylor 7 Some good support play
Mee 7 usual steady self
Tarks 7 see Mee

Westwood 6 ok and much better second half, but was outnumbered and played round first half (not his fault)
Cork 6 see Westwood
McNeil 8 as the game stretched and he found a bit more space he was a joy to watch
Hendrick 7 worked hard and showed excellent feet to create opportunities more than once

Jay 7 had to do a lot of deeper work today, cool pen.
Vydra 8 not in the game for sustained periods times first half but when an opportunity arose he was on it like a flash. Unlucky in the first half to not score but his composure second was top class.

Giving Jay my Mom, though little to choose between Him, Vydra and that 2nd half from Dwight.
Jay's influence is growing every game now and, he's playing a major part in how good we are at times, linking up & going forward.

Pope 9 (some excellent saves and only a bit slow when B'mouth scored the second disallowed goal. So no worries!)
Bardsley 7
Tarks 8
Mee 8
Taylor 9
Cork 8
Westwood 8
McNeil 8 (much better second half)
Hendrick 7
Vydra 8 (a live wire and definitely a different dimension for the Clarets, but -1 for failing to convert numerous excellent chances and bag a hat trick!)
Jayrod 9 (a great foil for Vydra)

A weird game to watch and to score, even by our standards!! Could quite easily have been 4-4 at half time!! It was suggested to me that our more than dodgy defending in the first half may well have been down to the weather and tbf that may be so, but at the same time we made chances of our own and didn't take them. We definitely defended better and took the game to them second half and could have buried them by 5 or 6. VAR is an absolute joke and although we profited today and it apparently got the decisions spot on, it's still spoiling the game imo as how can that be right that they score an excellent goal and we get a penalty instead?? It's football (maybe) but not as we know it! I was chuffed that Vydra got his just desserts by scoring EVENTUALLY and watching a Jayrod/Vydra strike force is totally different to watching Wood/Barnes. Not NECESSARILY better or worse, but definitely different and it's a very different watch.

Pope 8 - some very important saves, particularly a difficult one when Harry Wilson headed down towards goals
Bardsley 7 - always full value as the hard man, but there were occasions when we could have done with a right back more adept with the ball
Tarkowski 8 - great performance
Mee 7 - couple of wind-assisted wild swings early on but recovered very well
Taylor 7 - solid performance and always a good option going forwards
Hendrick 8 - mastered that position defensively
Westwood 8 - brilliant, covered every blade again, and found his quality on the ball again
Cork 7 - not quite as good as he's been lately, but still a solid game
McNeil 9 - incredible technique, incredible fitness now, took Bournemouth apart second half
Rodriguez 8 - it's no coincidence we're playing our best stuff of the season with him in the side, he's superb at linking up
Vydra 8 - a constant threat and the dismal Simon Francis had no answer to him, deserved that goal

Couldn't be happier with how we're playing at the moment. Full credit to Sean Dyche for this.

Bournemouth have every right to feel aggrieved at the decisions, they were certainly contentious. But when they look back at the game they'll realise they lost the game due to their awful defensive showing. It was obvious early on that Vydra was causing Francis all sorts of trouble in behind, but they never reacted to it. Sit a midfielder on him, drop a little deeper; but no, they continued to give him all the space he wanted to run in to. After witnessing them today, I'd be very surprised if they stayed up actually.

Fantastic. The Vydra/Rodriguez pairing gives us a whole new dimension, arguably easier on the eye than what we’re used to. And McNeil was absolutely magnificent in the 2nd half.

On another note, I was sat opposite John Banaszkiewicz on the train up from London this morning and we had a good natter. What a top bloke.

Pope - 7 decent today, but fortunate to get away with a clean sheet
Taylor - 7 good game, adventurous in the 2nd half, solid in the 1st
Tarks - 8 man mountain - no need for the behaviour at the end though. Just stay down.
Mee - 6 started poorly, but did improve. Needless booking
Bardsley - 6 it's down to technique now, I think, as he slows. Another booking that was needless.
McNeil - 8 Cracking performance, strong towards the end, which shows the progress this year. Lovely goal but the 1 that hit the post would have been better
Cork - 8 super performance
Westwood - 9 superb performance - but corners not quite as good as we've come to expect ;)
Hendrick - 7 good effort and protected his fullback well
Rodriguez - 8 top class, worked hard, won lots of ball, superb touches but then misses a sitter
Vydra - 8 gave us something else - speed over the top and craft. Well taken goal but could (and should?) have had more.

Pope - 9 awful conditions for him but he handled confidently and made 3 very good saves due to his positioning, the one with his foot from Wilson was superb

Bardsley - 6 goal-saving tackle in the first half, solid otherwise despite zip going forward

Tarkowski - 7 relatively untroubled but why he needs to get himself involved when someone wrongs him, I don't know

Mee - 7 solid

Taylor - 8 not convinced there's a much better English left back at the moment

Cork - 7 two strikes on goal!!!!!!

Westwood - 7 one strike on goal!!!!

Hendrick - 7 loads of plonkers round us moaning at him but he was involved in lots of good stuff, even if he got crowded out a few times

McNeil - 9 a shining light first half and once we were 2 up he ran the show. So unlucky with the one off the inside of the post, he gave Ramsdale no chance with his next attempt but even before then he should have had two assists if the front 2 had finished better.

Rodriguez - 7 should have buried the one from an absolutely beautiful ball from McNeil. Lovely pen though under pressure, keepers don't stop them.

Vydra - 7 could have had a hat-trick but the link up with Jay and the touch and movement they provide means we're playing miles better togger.

For a minute this looked like going the way of the villa game as we didnt react well to the disallowed goal but after a fairly even first half, largely because of the wind, we stepped it up and ran out deserved winners. Bournemouth can moan about the penalty all they like but it's an absolute travesty that the liner didn't give it when it happened, it was that clear.

They'll most likely go down as they've nothing about them; no heart, no leaders and not much quality.

We, on the other hand, are going from strength to strength, looking a really strong team and can say with some conviction that we're outfootballing the opposition at the moment, which is pretty banging.

Matej might've had two first half goals, but some credit should be given to their keeper whose speed and positioning denied him. The second half chance that he missed at the far post looked easier than it was; he was at full stretch and just unable to reach it in time to steer the ball better. It was good to hear the TV commentary praise his touch and lay off to team mates, as well as his clever movement.

My MOM though was Jay: he seemed to be influential everywhere again. He's matured into a terrific player: uses his experience, calmness and skill to great effect . Had he put that 2nd half chance in it'd been a 10 from me.

We ran out good winners in the end, but it has to be said that without VAR the result could have been so, so different. Never been a fan of it and even though its been favourable to us in the last 2 games I'm even less approving of it now. Somewhere down the line when its reviewed, I hope Stockley Park is taken out of the equation for everything except off side decisions. The responsibility should lay fairly and squarely with the on field referee for everything else, possible in conversation with his senior linesman. Anyhow back to the football and the last half hour was something to behold, especially given the conditions were so challenging.

Pope 8-Crucial saves that kept us in the game early doors.
Bardsley 7-Solid performer and he definitely buys into the Burnley way. I'd certainly give him an contract extension.
Tarkowski 9*-My MOM, laid the foundation for us to build on with some excellent defending.
Mee 7-Not at his very best but very influential all the same.
Taylor 7-Again got better as the game went on.
Hendrick 7-Typical Hendrick performance.
Westwood 8-Main component of the engine room and a wizard with the corners.
Cork 7-Got through a lot of work as per usual.
McNeil 9-Think its fair to say he grew into the game and the last half hour was certainly his best out of the 49 appearances.
Rodriguez 9-We've got 13 out of 15 points and people are asking how. JayRod has certainly made a huge difference with his link play.
Vydra 8-Could and should have had a hat trick. He looked very sharp and reminded me of Michael Owen at times.

Pope- 9 once again cam up with 2 big saves, kept is in the game with our early wobble
Taylor - 8 love this guy, drives us on and compliments McNeil so well
Tarks - 8
Mee - 6 3 big mistakes today, thankfully none of them cost us, but all 3 could and maybe should have.
Bardsley - 7 solid
Cork - 8
McNeil -9 assists, goals and he made 2 good interceptions too.
Westwood - 7 does the dirty stuff
Hendrick - 7 did his job, some great bits, some ok bits. Unlucky not to have an assist.
Rodriguez - 8 links up well with Vydra, could have had a couple
Vydra - 9 some might say he should have bagged 3, yes possibly, but he made the chances for himself, others may not have got in those positions.
For a chap who's been in the cold, he's come in seamlessly. He will only get sharper with more minutes, and the understanding with Jay will only grow

Note for the fans, it may have seemed OTT with the Vydra songs/praise, but that's exactly what he needed, think his team mates realise that too, they're all over him.
Vyds even mentioned feeling amazing, his confidence must be sky high, exactly what we need with only 2 fit forwards.

European tour anyone....
