Would be very handy if City's ban gets upheld. Also if United, Wolves and Arsenal progress to the later stages of the Europa League. The prospect of a Chsmpions league spot for the winner may affect their focus a bit.

Important point about our likely rivals for European qualification.

Man Utd are still competing in both the FA cup,and the EL.

Tottenham are still competing in the CL,and the FA cup,and Jose tends to go strong in knockout comps.

Sheff Utd are still in the FA cup,and now their top-flight safety is assured,Chris Wilder might fancy a run in that tournament.

Wolves are virtually certain to at least make the last 16 of the EL.

Arsenal are also competing in both the FA cup and EL.

The only other team with viable European hopes besides ourselves is Everton but their run-in looks horrendous.

We have 11 games pretty much pressure free from now until May,and can just go out and enjoy our football,it's still a long-shot for us to secure another European jaunt, but stranger things have happened, top 10 is definitely doable, and then who knows, all we do is keep racking up the points and see where it takes us come the end of the season.

Looks like 5th and 8th might not get the extra spots next season:

Always likely to be the case. I wouldn't be surprised if the ban gets completely overturned anyway.

Suspect it will end up as a suspended sentence and a really massive fine.

I'd have thought it might be in City's interest to negotiate it down to 1 year and get it over with. After all, it must be harder to sign players this summer knowing there is a possible 2-year ban an an indefinite time in the future, than knowing it is a 1-year ban and all system go year after next.
