Feel sorry for Eddie?
Me neither!
Just re-watched MOTD. Eddie's reaction is heart-breaking (if you're a Cherry).
We've had the bad rub with VAR so, I'll take the good for now.
Had to smile when I saw Jay Rod taking a swig from Ramsdale's juice bottle after what should have been goal of the month.

Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
I personally hope its Villa, Bournemouth and Norwich.
Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
I do like Eddie Howe and I can certainly empathise with him yesterday. Imagine struggling near the bottom, celebrating what you think is an equaliser only to find it ruled out, and then the other side have a penalty to double their advantage. Regardless of whether the decisions were right or wrong, that's a tough one to take.
I thought he kept his counsel really well too during the incident. If that happened to Mourinho, for example, he'd have been on goals on Sunday this morning talking about conspiracies.
Having said all that though, I do think they'll go down. They really were dreadful at the back at times yesterday, and actually lacked some fight.

I like an element of "small clubs" in the PL. Would therefore love West Ham and Villa to go down (Norwich are doomed), if only to put a message out there to new clubs of not over-spending on players

Regrettably, I fear Norwich have already gone, after today, they'd need to average 2 points a game to get to 40 points ! Not going to happen ! ..

Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
We could do with Bournemouth staying up - I think they'll find it hard to keep re-energising, its the big city clubs that are a bigger threat to the likes of us.
Villa and West Ham would be perfect to join Norwich - but it seems Watford's new manager bounce has worn off. AFCB look vulnerable with the fixtures they have coming up.

I hope they stay up, we always beat them, we should be hoping that big spending Villa and Wet Spam go down, the more smaller clubs like Brighton, Watford ect, the better.

Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
I don’t believe Bournemouth will go down, they have a severe run in but looked more than capable on Saturday, especially in the first half. As for Eddie Howe, I suspect he will keep his job whatever happens. Feel sorry? Naaa!
Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
To be honest had the result and the match circumstances been the reverse on Saturday I think we would all have been rather annoyed to say the least. So yes I feel sorry for Eddie in that regard just as I would for Sean. I felt more sorry for their fans, it's a long way to come just to see two handballs and two goals go against you. They would be mad to sack him even if they go down, he's done a brilliant job for them in both spells.
Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
No I don't feel sorry for Eddie, nor does he feel sorry for us at all the times we have had the crap decisions go against us. However, I do hope they stay up as I would back us to be above both Bournemouth and BHA next season if they both stay up, hence only one to find!! Half full or Half empty always a claret. UTC

Tis true, I was and I do.
Mind you, having said that, you should feel sorry for me, having just come back from the best skiing ever, I managed to pick up a tooth abscess on the last day.
I don't know if you've ever suffered one but, **** me, it's painful. Very.
Trying to get emergency treatment fixed up in Burton this morning was a joke until I mentioned the swelling. Suddenly, it's all change, I'm in -"duty of care", 24 hour time limit, blah de blah - I should be pleased but it all sounds a bit ominous to me.
Should be a nice way to spend the afternoon.

He has never bad mouthed Burnley, he brought in some great players for that I like him. Re Saturday I dont feel sorry for anyone we beat regardless of any link to the club. VAR stands, they are a panel of experts applying the laws of the game.

Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
No reason to feel sorry for Eddie.
However, always tries to play football the way it should be played and will never park the bus.
Bournemouth played some very nice football in the first half and could easily have led by half-time.
But once a team gets stuck in the bottom, that little bit of luck starts evading you and decisions seem to go against you most of the time. Just look at how our fortunes with VAR seem to have changed since we've climbed the table.

Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
Don't feel sorry for him or Bournemouth.
- Pretended to Burnley that he wanted to leave because his mother had died and then got a massive pay-rise to drop down a league.
- Cheated their way to the Premier League by breaking FFP and were never properly punished.
- Outspent every rival club in the divisions before that.
- They have 3 transfers higher than our current record and 1 equal to it.
- Highest finish is 9th
Time for them to go!

Norwich look doomed.

Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
He’s brought about his own downfall. He’s spunked an absolute shed load on some real dross at Bournemouth recently.
Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
Eddie and us did not work out and whilst he advanced our first team squad according to many he put back our youth development several years by his actions
Clearly he has football nous but results matter and head to head we have six wins and two defeats against them one of which was an unfortunate slip by Kevin Long on 90 mins in 2017-8
So no not sad for Eddie as a manager but he is a decent bloke

Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
Solanke's a case in point bought for the better part of 20m,and he can't hit a barn door,Harry Wilson is Bournemouth's best player and he's on loan.
Their big money summer signings Danjuma,Billing and Lloyd Kelly have proved to be a disappointment, and they're clearly missing Mings and Mousset.
I didn't realise Eddie's contract is up in the summer, you have to whether he'll be given an extension, whichever division Bournemouth are playing in next season, the owner might decide a change in direction is required.
Eddie's biggest failing is he can't organise a defence to save his life, and teams with a soft centre will always find it tough in the PL.

Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
The one in 2009/2010, before they were bought out by a millionaire?
The season after they'd survived two points deductions over two seasons, for owing to HMRC and going into administration
Max Denim bought the club in 2011 and in 2012/13 and they were immediately promoted to the Championship after Mr. Howe returned.
Two seasons later in 2014/15, Championship champions.
That's plenty fair on all the clubs who run within their limits.
Bournemouth were merely fined in 2016 after breaking FFP rules to reach the Premier League - https://www.skysports.com/football/news ... play-rules
They posted a 38 million loss, the maximum allowed is 8 million-ish? Their wage bill was more than double the club's turnover.

Re: Feel sorry for Eddie?
I'm not disagreeing that they spent a lot of money to get in the premier league (although many managers have spent more and failed) but there was certainly a spell when he did well with a minimal budget and even when they were promoted to the Premier League there were clubs spending more.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 5:10 amThe one in 2009/2010, before they were bought out by a millionaire?

The FFP penalty is exaggerated as they had such a small income. For a sense of scale we had a wage bill £8m higher when we got promoted in the subsequent season.
It may not be quite the fairytale some have suggested but when you look at teams like Derby, Boro, Leeds, Wolves (before the latest influx), etc and their spending compared to their success he has clearly done well.

Yes, they outspent other clubs in proportion to their revenue but not as an absolute amount. Hence the hefty FFP fine.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 3:20 pmThey were fined 8 million, when other offending clubs in the same period were slapped with embargos. FFP wasn't really fit for purpose though. Almost every season had a club coming up who had breached the rules. Looking at Bournemouth they've been fined £8m and gained extra revenue of ~ £300m for instance. Leicester breached the rules, paid a small fine and then won the Premier League and however many hundreds of millions that has earned them.
