Why do people?...
Why do people walk directly in your way when walking through the city centre. You know I'm going straight ahead - why don't you just **** off and go in a different direction?
Why do people drive along the cycle path on a main road? Is your car too big?
I'm walking up the road and the cars are taking half the room of the cycle lane - why?
Why?

Re: Why do people?...
Very annoying but I'd probably laugh if somebody did that.
And why do people walk in your line - engage brain and it should be clear that you just don't walk infront of them.

Actually Tim-bob Frank had already said Why 4 times so your "Why" was superfluous ...

I'm just genuinely annoyed by the general person. The fact they don't know the difference between your and you're is just one of the many problems with today's education.Bosscat wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 11:37 pmFranks OP........

Re: Why do people?...
I'm with you Frank. Annoyance can lead to enthusiasm to facilitate change for the better. So getting annoyed at other people's errors, no matter how small or insignificant, can be a good thing. And being able to accept other people pointing out your own errors is even better.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 11:49 pmI'm still no nearer to have people explain why I get so annoyed.

Re: Why do people?...
I always walk in the BMW lane and people will drift out into my lane making me brake and swerve and undertake putting me in danger of people coming out of shops . Then the absent minded ones that just stop dead in their tracks for no reason . Push chairs in the fast lane is another one . At least with the many shops closing down i don't have to go so often

Re: Why do people?...
Just use your brain and don't block the same direction that I'm walking in.
I'm walking down the street - don't walk up the same feckin route.
I've even had to stop and let someone past..

Re: Why do people?...
Factual Frank, you want to try dodging in between the crowd at the other side of the barriers at the club shop, to get up Brunshaw Rd, from the Bob Lord stand. Theirs people heading/rushing towards town and others going straight across, towards the Park View, from the JH and JM stands. You’ve certainly got to be nimble on your feet and keep your on eyes on people around yourself, to avoid bumping into people. It’s no place to be stood taking photos.

Re: Why do people?...
It's worse in London. If somebody is walking towards me and we are on a collision course then I expect the 50/50 rule to apply i.e. I'll move slightly one way and they'll move slightly the other.
Oh no, not in London. These people hold their ground and expect you to get out of their way. Nowadays I just move slightly to one side and drop a shoulder to barge them out of the way. They get really surprised when they bounce off me

What about those people who get off a train but then stop immediately they land on the platform so everyone else has to squeeze around them.

And those people that start a thread without putting the full meaning of the subject matter in the header space provided but instead finish with three dots ...

For those who enjoy being grumpy may I recommend a book ‘A Man Called Ove’ by Fredrick Backman. Probably the grumpiest person on the planet and very funny.

I've always gone with the Flow down there ...dither at your peril....it all about movement! The embankment is fine for a bit of Dithering though.Croydon Claret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 6:24 amIt's worse in London. 2 people walking towards you on a pavement 2 people wide.
One should move and walk behind the other.
Not with some people. Twohats.

You're such a pedant!
You got as much brain as a dead ant!
As much imagination as a caravan site!
But I still love you.

Re: Why do people?...
Overweight people who insist on chatting to friends in the middle of the isle in a supermarket and seem to go deaf when you say excuse me. Or the even better classic - people walking down the street and just stop - for no reason whatsoever.

Re: Why do people?...
Could be a song for Tim-bob....
https://youtu.be/nZ9EWcaS7II
How sweet to be an Idiot,
As harmless as a cloud,
Too small to hide the sun
Almost poking fun,
At the warm but insecure untidy crowd.
How sweet to be an idiot,
And dip my brain in joy,
Children laughing at my back,
With no fear of attack,
As much retaliation as a toy.
How sweet to be an idiot, how sweet.
I tiptoe down the street,
Smile at everyone I meet,
But suddenly a scream,
Smashes through my dream,
Fie fye foe fum,
I smell the blood of an asylum,
(Blood of an asylum,
But mother I play so beautifully, listen. ha ha)
Fie fye foe fum,
I smell the blood of the asylum,
Hey you, you're such a pedant,
You got as much brain as a dead ant,
As much imagination as a caravan sign.
But I still love you, still love you,
Oh how sweet to be an idiot,
How sweet. how sweet. How sweet.

Re: Why do people?...
My village has the best of cycle ways.
Village road two lanes with middle white line rubbed out. Cycle lane each side with dotted line.
In theory, motorists should drive down the middle until a car approaches from the opposite direction. Then, if cycle lane empty, move over to allow opposing car to do same and pass. If cyclist in lane....stay behind.
Whilst motorists fail on the first point, they do oblige the cyclists now.
Outcome... average speed prior to cycle lane scheme 38, after 25 in each direction. Sorted.
I have held my ground against speedster, making them brake hard. Then I wag finger! Ha! One Jag driver must have been doing 70 round a bend. Straightened and accelerated until he saw me, coming the other way. Slowed slightly but not much, until he saw I was just leaving a jaguar car width. Braked very hard indeed! Looked at me as he slid past. Got my wagging finger and scowl.
My favourite pastime!
