Arron Lennon
Arron Lennon
Can He Prolong his Career at the top level and do what Ashley Young Did and Convert to a fullback. Defensively decent, Pacey although final ball not great and not tall

I couldn't think of much else I would dislike more than Lennon at Full Back.

Re: Arron Lennon
I don’t really see the problem with him as a utility player. We know he’s good defensively and can do a job on the right wing/right back. Also came on up front and was great with pace on sat. Experienced too, inexpensive and won’t mind sitting on the bench.

I think I would prefer Pope covering the goal and playing RB simultaneously than Lennon.

Re: Arron Lennon
If we had a fully fit squad (Wood, Barnes, Jayrod, Vydra, Brady, JBG, Brownhill, Westwood, Cork, McNeil,) would he get on the bench? I'm not a big fan of Lennon, I think his future is behind him, but he does seem committed to the club and if he is with us next season that's fair enough with me but his appearances will be very limited.

Re: Arron Lennon
Lennon is a decent player.albeit getting towards the end of his career.. players needs to be given a decent run in the side before you see them at their best. Would certainly give him a one year contract in the summer.

Re: Arron Lennon
By that rationale we'll never see him at his best as he's never done anything to suggest holding down a first team spot. The Enclosure wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 12:59 pmplayers needs to be given a decent run in the side before you see them at their best.
Let him go, move on to a younger version, preferably with some end product.

superb movement to give McNeil the space to score

That was a great run and it helped open it up for Dwight.

Re: Arron Lennon
He is a good sub to bring on late on in a game when we need fresh legs but i agree with most of you that his career is coming to a close, he would do well to join a championship club next season, Preston maybe, hes still got a good turn of speed but his deliveries are hit and miss having said that its a while since he has shown anything to give him a start but hes still handy to have on the bench which he doesn't seem to mind.
Re: Arron Lennon
What we need to find is a younger version of Aaron Lennon... in the meantime he is an ideal impact sub.

Ideal for us, or the opposition?
To be an impact sub its often useful if you positively impact a game, rather than impacting a spectator with your crosses.

Never a FB. Fine defensively but in front of a proper FB.
I’ve corrected your typo heading.

Re: Arron Lennon
Who else is going to give Vydra a big hug and tackle him to the ground when he scores?
Keep him for another year.

Re: Arron Lennon
Strange you would say this directly after he just impacted a game on Saturday. And he was on the pitch for less than 10 minutes.
Re: Arron Lennon
For 10 to 20 mins, he has the ability to run and catch breakaway attackers or, create space for others, or get the odd assist or even score - he can shoot.

Re: Arron Lennon
He does a lot of the dirty work that a lot of people don't seem to appreciate. You can see that he is
restricted somewhat by the instructions given to him by the manager. When he does play, I see him
as the unsung hero type of player - he does more than is obvious. He is also putting pressure on other
players, which brings the best out of them, simply by him being there.
I, for one, would like to see him here for at least another season.

Re: Arron Lennon
If we are not planning on giving Bardsley a new contract and fail to get any of our right back targets because teams are asking for £20m plus for right backs who have only played in the championship then I would not be against giving Lennon another year to act as cover for both right back and right wing....if that means we can strengthen in other areas or even keep hold of our key assets.
It would cost us around £2m in wages to give Lennon another year. He’s experienced and he’s certainly never been scared of putting in a tough challenge. He would be a much bigger threat than Bardsley on the overlap and he is still probably our fastest player which is an asset at both ends of the pitch.
Would not be surprised at all if this is something that SD and Lennon have considered and it appears that he is happy here and gets on with his team mates and SD which after what he has been through will be important to what he decides to do.

Inimitable. Let’s spaff £40k per week on him.
Remind me of another instance, he impacted a game? Better still, consider we have JBG and can either keep Jeff or Lennon, who would you keep?

Re: Arron Lennon
Would love to see us play with wingbacks. We are good on the left side with Taylor or even Brady, who has played fullback at times, but the right is an issue. I would put Hendrick, Lowton or JBG in that spot before Lennon, but not sure any of them really fit the bill. Let's play 4-4-2 instead.
