My wife entered a competition with Barclaycard and won two places on a promotional trip that went out to the Bay of Biscay. It was an incredible experience.Very narrow and I believe just 99 seats.

Re: Did anyone fly on Concorde?
was booked on it from Bahrain, had the booking for ages, to London but unfortunately cancelled, I think at the time all flights for Concorde where stopped.
My father when on one as a trip out of Manchester Airport much later, was a 65th birthday present, was the best thing he ever did and never stopped talking about, good memories

Went to watch test match in Trinidad. Can’t remember year but Devon Malcolm played superbly. Flew on Concorde to Miami then regular plane to Trinidad. Took my Dad for his 70th. Best thing I ever did. Also flew London to Varbados. Got there before we left. A great plane. Remember the Captain saying as we taxied out at Heathrow that as it was not a full flight it would be a sporty take off. And it was. Great days

Re: Did anyone fly on Concorde?
Flew Concorde London-New York and NY-London, summer 1994. Firm I was working with at time had London and NY offices, made the rtn trip at least once each month, sometime 2 or 3 times. Summer months Concorde bookings were quiet and BA offered firms with regular travellers the opportunity to book Concorde seats for price of "regular" business class fare - on condition that you fly both directions. Well, it would have been rude not to take them up on the offer.... so I found a reason I needed to be in NY for a couple of days. Thing was the NY-Ldn flight left NY mid-afternoon, so the really serious business people wouldn't choose that flight. That was one of the "extra pluses" lunch in NY and sleep in your own bed back home in London. And, no jet lag.
The other bonus for the trip was that there was bad weather in NY when we arrived, so we were diverted to Hartford Airforce base - about 100 miles out from JFK. (Concorde didn't carry enough fuel to circle while the storm cleared). We sat on the ground there for 2-3 hours. Yes, the regular Concorde fliers just wanted to get off, but I was in no hurry, pretty sure they were serving drinks, again, while we waited.
Then the time came to complete our journey - with enough fuel to take off, but no more than enough so we were ready to land in 10/15 mins time. The pilot advised we would take off "like a fighter jet!" Wow, what a "kick in the back" from those plush leather armchairs that were the Concorde seats!
Yes, I was very lucky. What a beautiful machine.... but, more than a "little heavy" on fuel consumption, designed and built when oil was less that $6/barrel - no 10 times that.

I was in Boeing at Sheffield (Rotherham) last week, it’s still a bit quiet in there but no concerns around the 737 Max being back in the sky within the next 6 months.exilecanada wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 7:02 pmFirst order of business will be to get out of the 737 Max 8 debacle they created for themselves.

Only had the " E " on the end of Concorde, because the French insisted on it !
The full story of the French Court cases that followed the Paris crash in July 2000, should be read by anyone who professes to have any trust in the French legal system ...

Re: Did anyone fly on Concorde?
Allowing the 737 Max 8 to fly is one thing, persuading the paying public to board it is another. Not to mention the possible massive compensation to customers who purchased the aircraft in good faith.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 7:21 amI was in Boeing at Sheffield (Rotherham) last week, it’s still a bit quiet in there but no concerns around the 737 Max being back in the sky within the next 6 months.
