Horsham Claret
Today I was driving in the small town of Horsham in West Sussex... walking on the pavement I see a postman wearing a Burnley training top...
I was able to bip and wave.
Does this man with discernable taste post on here?
So where have you encountered a Claret in a place where they would least be expected? (ideally not just someone on their hols)

Re: Horsham Claret
Living in Cornwall I have met a number of Burnley fans, some here on holiday and a few that live in the area. The most recent was my new window cleaner. I was in the Scilly Isles recently and saw a Burnley fan driving his painting and decorating van but I didn't get the chance to chat to him.

Re: Horsham Claret
Met a guy on Saturday when enjoying some hospitality and he had just moved to Ashington one week previously and had travelled down, as I had on the day, in order to meet his son. Evidently, he doesn't see many games because he has lived in the north east for quite some time, however, his home town is Burnley. That makes three Clarets living in Ashington now that I am aware of.

Re: Horsham Claret
My son, not born in Burnley, lives in Horsham and supports the Clarets. However he is not a postman so there must be three Clarets supporters there as his daughter, aged 9, also is a Claret.
Re: Horsham Claret
Years ago, I held open the door, for a lady shopper, in Salisbury. I was wearing a Burnley scarf. She stopped and said she was from Burnley, ran a pub in the city and her husband was a Claret.
When first elected to Salisbury District Council, one of the LibDem Cllrs said she taught in Burnley and lessons only went well, if football had gone well! Jan Swindlehurst was her name.
Last Friday, the Parish Council Chairman, a just retired Army Colonel, met me at my home. He saw my scarf and said he had grown up in Burnley and watched in the 70s. Andy Birkett.
Small world.

Judging on some of the comments on this site, here is an unexpected place...
Re: Horsham Claret
There are a number of Clarets in W Sussex. Not sure who the chap is in Horsham though
Re: Horsham Claret
Would that be the small town of Horsham that has probably got twice the population of Burnley. Which in itself is an excellent example of how well we are doing as a football team.

I thought that! Horsham is a big town!
Re: Horsham Claret
I always thought Horsham was twinned with Blackburn

No Boss. Blackburn's, already, in a suicide pact with Beirut.

Re: Horsham Claret
Usually Brighton territory Horsham. (Or Manchester United pre Amex).
Always thought it was funny there's so little in the way of professional teams in the South East. Between Brighton and Gillingham who else is there? I know it's closer to London but Burnley is close to Manchester!
Edit# just remembered Crawley Town.

Don't know what it is with postmen, but there's one in Whitby who's from up that way and follows Burnley.

For the playoff final v Stockport we stayed for the weekend with my brother in law who lived then near Cranleigh (next door to Horsham)
Couldn’t believe how many clarets were doing the same journey on the motorway into and away from Wembley!!!!!

The one and only Mr Steve Asten...the van even has 2 claret and blue stripes running the length of it....the whole extended family are claret through and through, with roots gong back to 1960's Whitewellbottom...no shortage or clarets here..despite the fact that the entire population of Scilly couldn't fill half the CFS.

That's the guy then...pass him on my regards when you speak to him...we do have quite a few of us in an unofficial group of Sussex Clarets if he'd like to make touch.

He's called Craig.
If you see him again shout his name (that'll freak him out!) .
He's a good fella, always funny! Easy guy to like.

I have just started a new job driving around Horsham in a county council minibus.... I think I'm based quite close to where he may live (Kings Road area). I'll be ready to get that window down quickly...I'll freak him out all rightHunterST_BFC wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 6:40 pmIf it is him...
