Thursday Trivia ...
As far as I can gather, there are Ten post-war International footballers, who's careers have seen them play League Football over 3 different decades, who have worn both the Claret and Blue of Burnley, and the Blue and White of our rivals down the M65, during their professional careers ...
Can I have your suggestions, please ?

Re: Thursday Trivia ...
Adam Blacklaw, John Connelly, Gordon Cowans, Shane Duffy and David May are correct ....
If I hadn't have set this, I'd have gone straight for Keith Newton, but he didn't make his Rovers debut until the 1960-61 season, and retired in 1978, after his last season at Burnley ...

Re: Thursday Trivia ...
I intended this as being short and snappy ... One clue to the final player ..
Of the 15 opponents this future International faced whilst turning out for the " Clarets ", seven of those Clubs no longer enjoy Football League status ...

Re: Thursday Trivia ...
So assuming that was when we were in Division 4 (based on the ex-league clubs) - the only international I can think of from that era is Andy Marriott - although it felt like he played more than 15 games.
As a 'keeper he probably had a few more loans here and there but I was never aware he played for Rovers before or after being with us.
Is it him?

It is ! In a moment of youthful folly, he went on loan to Ewood in 1989, and played two League games ...EarbyClaret wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 11:01 pmSo assuming that was when we were in Division 4 (based on the ex-league clubs) - the only international I can think of from that era is Andy Marriott - although it felt like he played more than 15 games.

Of the 15 League games he played for us ( spanning the Frank Casper/Jimmy Mullen era ), 7 were against sides who are now outside of the Football League ... ( Chesterfield, Hereford, Scarborough, Wrexham, Halifax, York and Maidstone )..
Despite Andy winning an England U21 Cap in 1992, he went on to win 5 Welsh Caps, as one of his Grandmother's was born in Bangor, North Wales !

See you’ve completed. I found another covered the 3 decades but not the full cap.

Re: Thursday Trivia ...
Sadly not, I suspect neither ourselves, the Chicken farmers or the Superior ones saw what could have been the best of Keith ... here's hoping he's doing OK .. I pulled this quiz from another site, and I'm now hearing that David May, whilst in an England squad ( friendly v Mexico ) never actually played, and that Andy ( call me Andrew ) Cole, made his one appearance for Arsenal in 1990, rather than 1989, which precludes him also ....
Apologies to all, hope you're doing well , " claretfern " , how's your lad getting on ?
