Post by Clarets4me » Fri Feb 28, 2020 6:43 pm

Just announced on Radio Lancs that the owners of Boundary Park, have applied to appoint administrators to Oldham Athletic ..... apparently Athletic were also served another writ by HMRC, to be heard in Court on 18th March ...

Not looking good ...

Been tracking their problems for over a year on the Magic Money Tree thread, situation has been classic road to doom all that time - their fans know it too, which is why they have been trying to get the games authorities involved all that time. But, no need to worry the EFL have just given themselves a clean bill of health after a review of the Bury farce

Showing my age but it seems a long, long time since we played Oldham, good days though and had some great battles with them ( on & off the pitch )
Hope they fare better than Bury did.

Latics with the sloping pitch. Really hope they survive.

Some remarkable scenes that time when there was so many of us, they had to open another section of stand.
(The game when Grobbelaar played.)

Don’t think I’ve been to a match with two older goalkeepers - Woods & Grobbelaar.

Is that the last time we played them? The 3-3 at Boundary Park?

Fun memories of Oldham, despite once getting clamped there (robbing barstewards).

I was also there this week with work, and realised how much of a dump the place is - it’s worse than Burnley.

No, we played them at their place the year after, possibly another draw and then beat them 1-0 in the promotion season the one after.
Can’t remember the home games to be honest.
Think we’ve had a couple of cup ties as well.

Always liked Oldham.
Liked watching us there.
They had their good times under Joe Royal, when we'd gone in the other direction.

Really hope they don't end up on the scrap heap like Bury.

The 4-1 away win in the anglo scottish stands out for me. What a night, (not as good as going up to parkhead and winning up there mind)

Don't know what the official gate was that night, but the was an awful lot of Clarets that hadn't paid after re-arranging that fence at the back of where we were stood.

Indeed Buxton, the memory is slowly fading but seems like it was an home game with the amount of clarets there.

I was ejected out of the ground with my brother and thrown in the back of a police van with 4 other Burnley fans and 6 Oldham fans, they drove us to some remote place and kicked us all out, the Oldham fans knew the buses which we took back to the ground, by that time the gates were open and we went back in to watch the last ten minutes.
I had a friend who played for them briefly in 1979/80. I hope they survive. It's sad that this is happening to these clubs.

There was an older thread about the coldest you’d been on a match.
Not sure if it was the 1-4 AS Cup win but around that time on there has just come to mind as a freezing night spent dancing from foot to foot.

Oldham's like the Cote d'Azur compared to Hartlepool. 8-)

The best way to Oldham. Use both hands.
