Scrappy game against a typical prem side packed with talent but little cohesion ,either side could have nicked it. We defended well and kept it to feet mainly .we’re aching for a right sided winger

One of those games where we were way below par performance wise, but the main thing is we left with a point, which IMO away from home in the premier league is always a good result for us regardless of opposition.

We park it and move on, I've no doubt we will need to be better, and will be better next week.

Pope 7 - It would be silly not to opt for Pope over the erratic Pickford only due to his kicking (surely the only thing Pickford is better at), but his kicking is quite poor at times

They aren’t great but Shelvey does make a difference to them. The game never felt anything other than even though. Could have nicked it, could have chucked it - decent point. Fancy us against Spurs.

You must be younger than I am (everybody on here is ) but there were four decades during which Clarets couldn't have imagined this situation happening (change PL for First Division for pre-1992, of course).

A match where our defenders showed their quality but the midfielders were AWOL too often. Bruce went 442 and his midfield was better than ours, they need some praise. Let’s be frank, we have a left winger who is learning and can disappear in tough games (not a criticism, he is 19), whereas they have one they signed for £40m. You could say similar about Shelvey, and Hayden and Ritchie aren’t bad either.

I checked the stats for Dwight, simply dreadful no dribbles, and very few shots, key passes etc. Mind you, he had three men on him and Taylor hardly ever overlapped today. It felt in truth like we came for a point and Taylor and Bardsley were told to never lose the NUFC wingers.

I had some sympathy for Vydra, needs the ball to feet and that wasn’t happening today. Wood didn’t do much either and the possession got far worse after he came on. But Wood did win some headers and have a shot or two. So Dyche cannot be accused of a bad call, its more a case of both styles could work for us but with this manager we are always going to default quickly to the big guy option, for better or for worse. No doubts Vydra will now be benched again, a crying shame after he has just got us 4 extra points to get us to safety.

There was one excellent cross in the 2nd half which Wood might just have buried on another day.

Anyone who watched Match of the Day just then would not realise we’d had a kick all game, let alone miss a one on one. Ridiculous editing of a pretty even game.

A lot of people slating Newcastle however they defended well, created more from midfield with Shelvey pulling the strings, however their finishing was abysmal some very decent chances spurned and wayward shooting let them down today. Plus they were up against a dogged determined defence.
