Which club do you dread playing ( any div )
Mine is Crystal Palace, home or away I expect nothing when playing them!

Leeds. There’s usually some idiotic fans trying to cause trouble.

Definitely the cheating Gooners. They are to me the ones who play anti-football. They have turned diving, whinging and crying into an art form. And their fans actually seem to believe they are getting fouled. They fall over using a hair dryer.

In the mid to late Eighties, it was Scarborough for me.
I think they beat us four or five times on the bounce.
Remember going to the chip stadium in '88, 1-0 defeat.
Don't even know what division they're in now.
Nobody now, really.

Man City. Nothing enjoyable about our past few games against them. The worst being the last one at home. I've stopped going to the Etihad as the 5-0 drubbings are getting a bit tedious for me

I'll second your Scarborough nomination. Even in the 91-92 season they took four points off us.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 1:09 pmIn the mid to late Eighties, it was Scarborough for me.

But if you look at our head-to-head record against them it reads W6 D1 L6 which is a lot better than I recall.

Re: Which club do you dread playing ( any div )
It's strange isn't it but even long before City's millions came along they used to batter us, more at home than away. Just short of 10 years (next month) since they walloped us 1-6 at home. 2nd tier (1st division then) 2001/2: 2-4 at home and 5-1 away. 3rd tier (second division then) 98/99: even though we got a creditable draw away they battered us 0-6 at home.
What IS it with City?????
This is not even to mention the more recent complete drubbings - City fans must take bets on how many they'll score against us.

Re: Which club do you dread playing ( any div )
Man City definitely they are one we dont go on about has its the norm for us to get battering from them
that's why George Boyds goal was so sweet
The 3-3 draw didn't help our cause though still went down at the end of the season after being two nil up

Defeats against Scarborough last longer in the memory than a victory. Think I was there in 1988 too ..Steve Davies (or was it Davis?) made his debut on loan from the mighty Crewe .. oh boy have things changed . Yet still there is a section on here who think we should be playing like we're Barcelona lol.

Think I’ve seen us lose at Scarborough 3 times at least. First time we arrived 30 minutes late because of traffic and we were 3-0 down.
Blackburn for the fear of losing more than anything.
Leeds because of their horrible fans.
Never liked playing Rochdale or Stockport back in the day as they always raised their game and we often struggled.
Bolton was horrible for a few years too.
Nowadays things are very different - Bayern Munich probably as I think that could be a tricky tie in next years CL and we might have to park the bus at the Allianz before turning em over back at the Turf

They must love playing us. First game I remember against them was a 1-0 IRRC with Colin Hendry the scorer - just to rub it in bit morehouseboy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 2:54 pmIt's strange isn't it but even long before City's millions came along they used to batter us, more at home than away. Blackburn.
Both for the fear of losing but also the aggravation caused by Lancashire Constabulary with their insistence on the stupid, way over the top transport procedure.

ground to get to into the bargain.

Stockport. Because it would mean we must be in the North West Counties League, or thereabouts.

They are doing reasonably well now in the National League last I looked (yes, it surprised me as well). A return to the league is not impossible. They are only a point or so off the play-offs.

To be honest Tony I wasn't sure how far down the play-offs go in that league, they are currently 7th, are there normally 6 in the play-offs?

Go Stockport - I know we've had our tussles but another North West club in the league would be good.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:06 pmThey do in the National League. Top go up and 2-7 in the play-offs.
