I imagine many, MANY clubs are interested in Charlie.
I imagine many clubs are interested in a lot of our players.

If we could get 15 to 20m for him, with Pieters available now and Koki in the wings we would be foolish to stop him moving to a champions league club.
We could easily reinvest that money in Hendricks replacement.

35+ million at least. 3 years on his contract and Maguire went for 80 million.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 9:15 pmIf we could get 15 to 20m for him, with Pieters available now and Koki in the wings we would be foolish to stop him moving to a champions league club.

IF the article is right that Leicester think they can get Maguire money for Chilwell - we would be wanting Tarks money for Taylor - it cooled their interest in the summer should do the dame again - and Pieters is not the answer even for a single full seasoncricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 9:15 pmIf we could get 15 to 20m for him, with Pieters available now and Koki in the wings we would be foolish to stop him moving to a champions league club.

I agree with C&J we shouldn't under sell our players we are an established Premier League team watched all over the world we beat the Man Utd's of the world our players are very good players so if somebody wants one it's gonna cost.

One of a few players who we could lose inc Tarky (almost inevitable ) and possibly McNeil . I’d love ya to keep all 3 though if we keep 2 it gives us another season out of them and a v good payday . Taylor has been very impressive this season . The board should be digging deep to keep the bits of real quality we have

Re: Foxes interest in Charlie
People dismissing Pieters are doing it for no valid reason.
Taylor's a decent player. Reasonably quick. And steady enough in the tackle. But hes no better than Pieters. In fact our best play comes with Pieters in the side especially going forward. Hes far better defensively and offensively and the stats back that up.
At 27 this year hes hit peak value so we either sell him or accept we will lose out on 15 to 20m.
To say he is worth 40m plus is pure fantasy. He doesn't score and rarely assists. Pieters does both and has a similar career clean sheet record.
As for Chillwell hes far better and far younger than both.

£15 million for Charlie Taylor and Pieters a better player. Sometimes there is a case for someone trying too hard to be too controversial.

Nick Pope goals conceded. 39. You can manipulate stats like that to suit any agenda.
Fact is Pieters has assisted more, scored more and tackled more than Taylor all in less games.
Re: Foxes interest in Charlie
This reminds me of yesterdays whinges about Jay Rods misses this season ....
Jay Rod has missed 33 chances 36% accuracy
Aguero has missed 112 chances but actually has a 41% accuracy
You can do a lot with statistics it doesn't matter a hoot

Re: Foxes interest in Charlie
Pieters is nowhere near Charlie Taylor’s level and Taylor isn’t quite at Chilwell’s level either.
Re: Foxes interest in Charlie
To be fair Pieters has got a better defensive record. Apart from Charlie's pace Pieters wins most stats.

The problem is, you're trying to compare them by using stats. Use your eyes and then judge who is the better player.

Not the finished article but made huge strides in last two seasons and will continue to improve. Extremely good defensively and if he had that killer cross he would be exceptional

I've done a brief scroll down here and I can only assume the description of Taylor being "no better than Pieters" were parody or whatnot

Re: Foxes interest in Charlie
I don't think Charlie will go anywhere so stop worrying guys.
To be honest for all the fuss we often make about not buying players I think this Summer will be a hugely successful window if we don't buy anyone and simply keep everyone we have got. With a (seemingly) revitalised Vydra, a (hopefully) fully fit JBG, Brownhill to be introduced fully into the team and 4 (yes four) decent strikers we have got the makings of a bloody good squad of players. Okay we could use a decent attacking right back but even what we have is not too shabby is it? We have got arguably one of the best goalkeeping/central defensive combinations in the PL (an article I read recently was suggesting that Southgate could do worse than use the whole set for England), and a midfield that is still a work in progress but on paper has the potential to be excellent (JBG/Hendrick/Westwood/Brownhill/Mcniel/Pope/Brady/Lennon). These are all good players and given that we aren't going to sign world class superstars any time soon I think we can rightly be very opitimistic. But the key is holding on to them - that is going to be the main job this Summer for Dyche, any additions will be just a bonus.

Re: Foxes interest in Charlie
The danger of misusing statistics reminds me of that famous Carter Racing / Challenger Space Shuttle exercise that has been taught in business schools for 30 years. It’s something I am very mindful of when designing forms of analysis for clients.
We can lament Taylor’s assists and goals but he also links well with Dwight and wins quite a lot of corners and fouls around their box. Dwight needs this at times. Similarly, he can get caught at the back but is excellent at recovery, such as his last ditch tackle in front of us on Saturday.
We shouldn’t sell him unless it gets silly, and even then we should think twice.

Like a few on here, it wouldn't surprise me if half the clubs in the PL weren't looking enviously at Taylor. The only left back better than Charlie this season, since his return from injury, has been Andy Robertson. Chilwell looks good when Vardy's playing but imo he appears very average.

Re: Foxes interest in Charlie
Think we need to be careful with hyperbole when it comes to Taylor. He's come on leaps and bounds and is a different player to 18 months ago. The sides he'd be a target for are looking at top 6 and even 4, and his lack of end product is then a huge issue. These teams are chasing Liverpool who score loads of goals from balls in from full-backs. It's a huge part of Liverpools game and there's nothing to suggest that Taylor would give the chasing pack the creativity needed from that position. The other thing we know from the past is often our players look better defensively because the way we play and how our defenders are protected. Even so, the idea that we'd only want £15m to £20m for one of our better players in our financial situation is a big stretch. I'm not sure we'd be talking £40m, but in today's market we'd definitely want well over £20m.
Re: Foxes interest in Charlie
Nothing to do with hyperbole or “end product”
Taylor gets the team to the other end of the pitch with lung bursting runs - especially in the second half when other teams are tiring.
How many times this season have we seen him run 50 or 60 yards down the line and beat 2 or 3 players and win a corner or free kick - these will often lead to chances / goals. Taylor does not get an assist for these but clearly he has played a massive role in the goal. It’s the same with his combination play / overlapping with Dwight where he might not be putting in the final ball but he has been integral to the play.
His defending is good again because of his fitness and pace.
He’s not the finished article either but this season he’s up there with Chilwell as the best English left back and Chilwell’s form has taken a dip since Christmas.

You're either fishing or had far too much to drink on a Monday . On Chilwell , he was "skinned " against Norwich a few times on Friday .
