Where to go for a decent hair cut?
So lads.
Any recommendations?
I don't mind paying more for a good hair cut.
I don't want no quick short back and sides crap either.
Price range of around £15-20 per cut.

Barber Bros are where I go now but I've stopped liking how they do my hair, cutting it right to the top instead of leaving me with a parting. Apparently it's what some barbers just do.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 7:37 pmBarber Bros in Padiham.

Jazz Mans is still the best in town. And eddies if Neil’s ever there.
Although neither do ‘proper’ shaves which is a shame.
Use Jazz Mans more as can pay on the card.
Stylz in Nelson also very good. But make sure you tell them what you want. They sometimes assume

Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
Not sure what differentiates a £5 haircut and a £15 haircut when they’re all generally done by someone with a level one in hairdressing.
At least when I used to go to Toni and Guy I got a shampoo and head massage from a tidy bird but it was still bloody expensive, for what it was.

Everyone’s a barber or a window cleaner these days.
Yet still struggle to know when they will actually bother to do it.
At least with jazz mans they are open and consistent.

Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
I recently got a window cleaner, i was home whilst he 'cleaned' our windows he was using some sort of extended brush with water squirting from it. The windows weren't very clean and the frames were black, apparently the dont do them any more. Needless to say it was his last day doing them. What happened to wiping them down with a cloth and taking pride in your work?cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 8:25 pmEveryone’s a barber or a window cleaner these days.

When I go there I'm always slightly puzzled by the hairdressing certificates on the wall awarded by a distance learning college.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 7:37 pmBarber Bros in Padiham.

Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
Barber Bros. is ****. When I’ve let them cut my hair previously (it’s very convenient from where I work) it looks like it’s been done with a butter knife.
Rips on Lyndhurst Road is consistently good and he’s a top man too.

Best thing about rips is telling him some porkies and seeing how long it takes for them to get round. Better than fishing on here.

Bobbin barbers, and for about £2, you can book a time slot that suits you, so no queue in and out without the hustle and bustle.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 6:56 pmSo lads.

I don't want no quick short back and sides crap either.
Price range of around £15-20 per cut.

Also do beard trims, hot towel shaves and shaped up etc. They are well worth the cash.
Job lot booked with time slot to suit you for £20

Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
Nowhere you have to book. That would be a ladies hairdressers. A few resident hairdressers on here it seems they may be quite good at cuts when not whining.

Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
You don't "have" to book, however I find working a 50 hour week, and valuing my time/weekends, I find the £2 supplement to book great value.
There's also the added bonus of him being a top notch barber.
I do understand though, that there a folk out there that like spending 2-3 hours at a barbers on a weekend to get a £7 short back and sides that looks like Edward Scissor hands has done it, and cant afford the extra few quid.
File under the people that drink in the big window, and/or order a Fosters or Carlsberg when there's Moretti, Peroni or San Miguel available. All them 30p's add up...
Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
So people who don't go to the hairdressers and book in are scummers is what your saying?MACCA wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 7:55 amYou don't "have" to book, however I find working a 50 hour week, and valuing my time/weekends, I find the £2 supplement to book great value.

Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
Nope didn't say that, but I am also sure the barbers aren't hairdressers and only for ladies...
I don't label someone just because someone takes the cheaper option, and/or compromises on quality. It maybe their circumstances that determine why they make such choices.
Im fortunate that I don't have to regularly compromise with what I actually want, but do also sometimes take the cheaper option through choice, however I understand many people don't have a choice, so have to put up with the cheaper option or compromise on quality to get by.
The OP states his price range and quality he expects, which is why I provided him with my opinion within his requests, with the added bonus of saving him some time regards queuing/waiting.
Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
If your booking it is not a barbers.
Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
Cutmaster Swift in Accy. Top lad, good barber and a proper Claret.
Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
You DO NOT have to book, its an option to save time for a small supplement.
Like a queue jumping pass at theme parks etc
But you've moved goalposts, you said, if you book it's a hairdressers for ladies.
Also probably 50% of barbers use some sort of booking app option.
Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?

Re: Where to go for a decent hair cut?
I agree.
If there’s one thing that grinds my gears it’s turning up at a barbers. Completely dead.
‘Sorry I’m really busy mate’
There’s nobody in?
‘Yeah I’ve got bookings just waiting for them’
It literally takes 10 minutes to cut my hair and it’s about £15 these days. Just squeeze me in like a normal barbers and tell your booking IF they turn up they’re on next. They won’t even know any different.
