Who's most likely to leave in the summer?
Who's most likely to leave in the summer?
It seems possible that we'll have a number of
teams looking to take on some of our players.
Most notably McNeil, Tarkowski and Taylor.
Possibly also Vydra and Hendrick.
I think Dyche's already hinted that McNeil will eventually move on but not for less than 30m.
The same could be said for Tarks. And Taylor is closing in on 20m+
So who do we think will go?
Hopefully no more than one. None of them would be easy to replace even with
20-30m to play with.

I think we'll finish the season strongly and our top men - see above - will stay. The likes of Brady will move on with, hopefully, one or two more coming in.

Gibson
Hendrick
Bardsley
Hart
Possibly Vydra if he goes back to bench warming
Lennon
Maybe Brady
I think that is enough change for one summer. Unless we get a stupendous offer for someone I think that will be the scope of it.
It will free up a fair chunk of wages too.
I think that could be the most important window yet as a lot of bench players need replacing. Hopefully with one or two that are new regular first teamers.

Re: Who's most likely to leave in the summer?
Hendricks already agreed a deal with Celtic.
We need to sell Gibson.
Hart will definitely go. Unless Pope gets injured.
Brady should go.
One of Bardsley or Lowton should be replaced with one for the future but given so many others going I imagine it won’t be a priority.
Hopefully that’s it. I think the days of losing our best players on the cheap are long gone and can’t see anyone paying over the odds for any of the better ones.

Re: Who's most likely to leave in the summer?
Pieters started well and then went quickly downhill. I’d be looking to get a covering LB for the future and get another year out of Bardsley/Lowton.
Wide right is still our achilles heel. JBG just can’t stay fit otherwise he's the man but we can’t be sure on Brownhill there until we’ve seen him. Lennon will probably go but is fine for last 20mins.

Both have been playing well during this recent run

Koiki seems a decent option and did well on his loan spell at Swindon. Don;t think LB is that urgent.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 8:38 pmPieters started well and then went quickly downhill. I’d be looking to get a covering LB for the future
RB is a must and something for RM, for as much as I like JBG, he seems to be made of glass these days.

I've always thought we'd got good money for players we've sold.

Akinbiyi
Gray (Andy)
Chaplow
Seemed every January someone would come in and unsettle us and take our key player.
As I say those days are long gone.

Judging by their careers after they left I'd say selling Andy Gray and Chaplow were both good business.

Re: Who's most likely to leave in the summer?
I've gone over Hendricks preformances and matched something with the stats. He is useless when he grows his hair. Either cut the hair Jeff or do one to Celtic. He can go for me unless he has the snip.

Why would you want to put a centre midfielder out wide - its time to stop this and get a good right winger in and have JBG as a fantastic back upTricky Trevor wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 8:38 pmPieters started well and then went quickly downhill. Eliasson won’t be too expensive and perfect for us putting balls in. Rb will blow the rest of the budget and then keep the good we have and we’re set.

I wouldn’t but a lot seem to think he’s been bought to replace Jeff as our 3rd MF or 2nd WR.

Re: Who's most likely to leave in the summer?
Interestingly SC had us in the top 6 of the Championship when we sold all those players but the board considered that we weren't ready for the Premier League so they were happy to balance the books.
It really is incredible when you look how far this club has come in that time.

Gibson - replaced by promising young centre back
Hendrick and Brady - replaced by younger left and right wingers
Hart - not even sure we'll replace him
Lennon - replaced by an attacking midfielder
Don't think there'll be any changes to our defence and attack unless Vydra goes.

Re: Who's most likely to leave in the summer?
Gibson isnt contributing anything currently but taking a wage. He's still got a couple of years on his contract but I suspect we'll proactively sell him.
Of the players coming to the end of their contracts:
Brady hasnt contributed a lot since his comeback from injury (was playing well enough before that); I suspect we wont take the option on the extra year.
Lennon whilst not starring/being a 1st choice, has chipped in to our season with decent contributions so we have to have confidence we can get better to just let him go rather than offer another year
Hendrick can do what he wants at the end of the season. I'm sure SD would like him to stay so itll be a test of his persuasive powers/what alternative offers JH gets.
Bardsley's contract is up, Id've thought we'd offer some extension which might satisfy him.
Hart, we have an option of an extra year but, assuming coaches have confidence in B P-F, let him go.
In terms of selling due to big offers: we aren't hard up so it'll take big money for the likes of Tarks,Taylor, McNeil, Pope. There are a few big teams in flux though and looking for established Prem talent so its not out of the question.
Most probable then
Gibson
Brady
Hart
Hendrick
Tarks

Dom Iofra is one we should be looking at as a good aged back up centre back.

Re: Who's most likely to leave in the summer?
As mentioned above, it is going to be a split between players who are OOC, players who want to leave, and players who we may have to sell if we receive a massive offer.
Players who we should be definitely trying to move on for cash:
Gibson
Hart
Vydra? (Not sure about him, depends if we can get better. Lets see what happens for the rest of this season.)
Players OOC who we should let go:
Brady
Lennon
Bardsley? (Again depends on if we can get better. RB should be one of our priorities next season)
Players who may leave if the right offer comes in:
Hendrick (would like him to stay but won't be crying if he leaves)
In the current climate would you accept less than 30-40m for each of these guys?
Tarks
McNeil
Taylor
Pope
Not sure the offers will be flowing in for any of our other players. Big season for JBG next year as his contract runs out and thus far he isn't a reliable squad member.

Re: Who's most likely to leave in the summer?
I think they were mainly happy to "balance" (they didn't really balance the books, we were still making losses even though we sold the ground) the books because we didn't have any money.dibraidio wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 10:03 amInterestingly SC had us in the top 6 of the Championship when we sold all those players but the board considered that we weren't ready for the Premier League so they were happy to balance the books.

Re: Who's most likely to leave in the summer?
Actually there weren't 6 teams promoted to the Premier League in those days, so being in the top 6 didn't mean as much as you're implying. I'm sure the board considered whether turning down large wodges of cash was worth the risk of not being able to carry on for another year; hindsight suggests that they might have got it right.dibraidio wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 10:03 amInterestingly SC had us in the top 6 of the Championship when we sold all those players but the board considered that we weren't ready for the Premier League so they were happy to balance the books.
