JBG. Is he ever going to be fit and have a prolonged spell in the team? Looks like we need to get a good right wonger in as well as a right full back.

Excellent news but we don't need to rush him back, our other three strikers are doing a great job.

Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
The way Vydra has played and the number of points we've got means there really is no rush to get him back in but it will be good to have all four strikers back soon.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 1:53 pmExcellent news but we don't need to rush him back, our other three strikers are doing a great job.

Weird. I'm sure some of our resident medical experts said that he would be out for the entirety of the season.

Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
If JBG were fully fit, he would be one of the first names on the team sheet for me. I really hope he gets sorted out properly, even if it means waiting til next season.

Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
The Lowton injury is a strange one. He wasn't visibly injured during a match and there are rumours flying about regarding his mystery injury coinciding with another Burnley player 'leaving' the club. What exactly is Lowton's injury?

Are Iceland in the Euro s? Personally would send Gudmundsson on his hols now then he would be ready for next season. With his international commitments in recent years a complete long break could do him the world of good long term. A few others not necessarily at Burnley could fall into the same category...a centre forward who won't be lining up on Saturday against us is the first to spring to mind

Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
Is this the 2nd or 3rd season in a row JBG has missed most of?
When fit he is invaluable but as it stands, I barely think of him as a Burnley player, more a part-time loanee.

Barny only on grass? He should be on raw meat by now.

Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
I thought Lowton was injured when he clashed knees with Saka at home to Arsenal?

Don't allow Lowton's injury to get in the way of a good story!

Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
So Lowton clashes knees with Saka fairly early on v Arsenal...but still completes another 60-70 mins against top class opposition and helps keeps a clean sheet on the process. Then he's out injured for the next 3-4 weeks because of this 'nasty' clash of knees. I'm not having that!
I'm just after some clarification as to what the actual issue is. Maybe how it was caused and what the delay is in him getting back. Not that we're desperate but Burnley can sometimes be extremely vague with things like this - usually when the issue is much bigger than first thought.
Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
29 PL appearances last season and 35 the season before, so neither.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 3:02 pmIs this the 2nd or 3rd season in a row JBG has missed most of?
Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
Great news. Fortunately, our other strikers have seen us through the last two months enabling Barnsey time to recover.

Great news that we could soon be back with all four strikers. Means we can have a bench that can change a game and hopefully secure us more points

Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
I'm pretty sure Lowton injured himself when he fouled Saka the Arsenal left-wing back in the first ten minutes of that game. He managed to run it off and put in an excellent performance . I suspect you didn't notice it because he didn't roll around banging the turf in pain and anguish like a southern softie might have.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 2:46 pmThe Lowton injury is a strange one. Yes, certainly no histrionics by any of our players!the_magic_rat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 5:15 pmI'm pretty sure Lowton injured himself when he fouled Saka the Arsenal left-wing back in the first ten minutes of that game. However, I'm not sure how he managed to run it off and then miss the next 4 weeks through that injury....

Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
Are we counting sub/5 minute cameos there or proper starts? (Genuine question tbh because he has no bigger fan here than me, but I've also very sadly slipped into the camp which now believes he'll never get it back and play regularly and we need to replace him in the summer)

Could be "interesting"!!
Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
Glad for Barnes, he can play up front however Dychecwants him to, I think he is a lot more technical than he is given credit for.

Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
Would never say I was glad one of our own players got injured, but in retrospect it worked out well. Jay needed that run of games to get sharp and find spaces in our attacking shape. He's been great, but doubtful he'd have gotten that many minutes with a fit Barnes even though at the time he was bang out of form. Knock on effect was we needed Vydra too, and I'm not sure he gets on at Southampton with a fit Barnes either.
I think Dyche is bloomin marvelous by the by, not a dig it's just the way he operates. People don't necessarily get dropped when their form does.

Didn’t Son do just that a few weeks ago when he fractured his arm?Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 5:27 pmYes, certainly no histrionics by any of our players!

Virtually forget JBG played for us doubt we’ll ever get a run out of him. Good to see Barnes getting fit
Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
Drinky? Can he play on the wing? Or at full back? Our loans have been a real smash hit.

Re: ARTICLE: Barnes back in full training
19 starts then, which is exactly half of the PL games. Add the substitute appearances and he appeared in more games than he didn't so didn't miss most of the season at all.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 7:54 pm10 of them 29 were as a sub.
Must have been why I thought he missed most of last year too.
