Sounds a solid enough 1st half bearing in mind the quality of the opposition, and the fact England are missing key players,Lucy Bronze for one.

In a lull in play, Jonathan Pearce was talking to his pundit, Scouser born Sue Smith, about being in a Restaurant near Hope Solo, and US player Carley Lloyd, " When we tried to get nearer to their table, the Blue flashing lights appeared ! " and added " I notice you tried to run off when that happened ! " ...

Careful, Jonathan ....

Two ex players knocking Phil Neville.

I think they are right.

Sometimes a player does not become a good manager.

They haven't played well since his early bounce.

100% agree, Ian !

The women's game preaches equality ... a Men's England manager would never have been appointed with his Coaching history, and a record of, Played 33, Won 18, Drawn 5, Lost 10, over 26 months would have been fired off some time ago ...

It's only his sister's Netball win at the Commonwealth Games and his waistcoat that's keeping him in post !!

The women are going in the same direction as their male counterparts,a strong tournament showing culminating in a narrow semi final defeat, and then a post-tournament hangover, just 2 wins in 9 games in Portugal and the Czech Republic who are hardly powerhouses of the women's game.

It won't get any easier with Japan up next, and Phil Neville needs to quickly turn this dire form around,or his job will be in jeopardy.

Lionesses final She Believes Cup game versus Spain BBC 4 just starting.

An unconvincing 1-0 win over Japan, won't have allayed many doubters, and this Spanish side is rapidly improving, and they pushed the USA all the way.

I'm afraid i've got to agree, prior to the world cup,and even during the tournament England were snapping at the heels of the USA,now they are miles behind the states(who should win the olympics),and the likes of France,Germany,Holland and Spain will all pose a major threat in the next Euro's.

This is absolute garbage. Do they actually earn money playing football?

Just a thought- the men's team went through a malaise that coincided with player wages going through the roof and many questioned the desire for representing England.

The women's game has very quickly become much higher profile, they are now professional, bigger sponsorship and bigger wages. Is this impacting negatively on the international team in the same way?

Conceded from a set-piece again, terrible marking but Spain probably deserve that overall, major question marks around this England side, struggling to create goals, and poor at the back.

Last 11 games include 7 defeats,1 draw, and only 3 narrow victories over Portugal,Czech Republic and Japan.Phil's got to start turning this around and quickly.

Seven defeats in their last Eleven games, for an England side is not acceptable ..

" After reflecting on our recent performances, I take full responsibility for the team's current malaise. I have come to the conclusion that I am not the person to lead England forward, and I have tended my resignation with immediate effect. I have also resigned as the Team GB Coach for the forthcoming Olympics. I wish my successor every good luck in the future " ..

I'm sorry, but his professional Coaching career was Head Coach at Manchester United ( 8 months, Manager sacked ), Asst at Valencia, ( 2015-2016, ended in relegation ), and then, In January 2018, he's appointed Manager of the FIFA ranked #4 side in the Women's game worldwide !!
It doesn't look as if they're playing for him, it looks like they're frustrated because they know he doesn't have the answers, and he's been imposed on them, as a " name " Manager, for him to learn his trade, whilst they're trying to be the best they can be !

He should be gone before the end of the week ...
