Never going to happen, I know 70 year olds fitter than some of my mates in their 30’s. It’s their life and their gamble

Burnley1989 has it spot on. You should know your own at risk level. If you’re dubious stay away. I’m 67, in training for a half marathon and have little worry I could survive a ‘flu. Others are not so lucky.

Daft, 70 year olds may on average be at a greater risk of death because they contract the virus, but are probably the least likely age group to pass it on???

B Bill why would the over 70’s be least likely to pass it on ?Because if they got symptoms it would hit them harder so would stay at home?

My friend will be absolutely livid if they bring this in. He is in his mid 70s and is deemed fit to deal with people who may contract the virus and come into the hospital where he is a specialist but could be told that he is not allowed to attend the Turf to watch the team he has supported for 70 years.

I wonder how they could enforce this anyway. He travels from Cheshire, I travel from Northumberland and the other member of the trio travels from near Grassington so will we be arrested if we try to get in?

I suppose its better than being sat in your house wondering if you are going to be bombed out ---how the hell did the population survive without the nanny state?

Surley the best idea if you’re going to ban certain people is to ban all walk ons and make it season ticket holders only?
Walk ons are more likely to be from abroad/out of the local area and if something comes it is more likely one would think to come from them.
Reduce away fans to maybe just a few hundred tickets as well and make them leave a seat free either side of them. Away fans being coach only and not mixing with home fans to contain them as well. I’d much prefer these measures to banning old people or playing behind closed doors. Playing behind closed doors should be a very last resort.
Of course I’d very much rather we had some British grit and kept calm and carried on but them days of us doing that are long gone. We need to be controlled and told how to live nowadays I’m afraid.

It would be an interesting social experiment. What aspiration would the rest of the fans have without the Bob Lord? Who would you look up to? Where would your dreams go?

Yes, that and the fact that they are a small percentage of the population and come in contact with fewer people from other age groups. I think

Presumably at 69 years 51 weeks you are considered capable of making your own mind up. It's only on your 70th birthday that the Premier League considers that you have turned into a dribbling idiot and need to have your decisions made for you.

I agree and think that principle should also apply instead of playing matches behind closed doors. Let’s all go and watch the match then in a hot sweaty pub or dragged off with the misses shopping in all the crowds instead, yes that seems a lot safer.

Are they going to close the tube down and stop us travelling on buses, no they are going to let us make our own mind up, like they should with football matches.

Would be much more useful to ban the morons who have no recognisable hygiene habits. Crowd would reduce to about 9000, but I wouldn’t be complaining.

If things continue as they are this sounds like a good approach however an age limit of around 60 seems more sensible

Its time for the old folk to show some of that blitz spirit, quit the whinging over missing a few footy games and put the country first.

On the plus side the club could give away the banned peoples tickets for free to the community to try and get young people and minority groups on the turf.

Might not come to all this but if it does its time for you oldies to put your money where your mouth is for a change.

Strangely I was meant to be taking the granddaughter to CUH on Wednesday and I’ve just heard it’s been cancelled for the lockdown.
