So a cracking match is on after four 1-0s. They better be good.
I watched the gunners and it wasn’t.

It wasn't exactly a goal-fest in the PL today was it.i'd have thought we'd have been higher up the order, but IDK if the fact we were on Sky as the evening game has a bearing.

Southampton vs Newcastle
Corner to Newcastle, ball cleared and Southampton break, Newcastle defender pulls back player and stops counter - given yellow card. VAR then rules that there was handball and awards Newcastle a penalty.... does the yellow card still stand?

Didn't even mention the penalty we should have had but were reasonably complimentary about us.
I am still peed off we didn't get 3 points. Bot felt this annoyed about a game in ages. Would have put us very close to top 4 had we won.

No, because the earlier foul means the later play didn't technically happen. Watch some Ligue 1 football, refs are forever rescinding cards.....with a typical French flourish usually

2nd half McNeil put Vydra through with a great pass...he chose to side step (that was successful against Bournemouth) and shot straight at keeper.
I mention this ‘cos anyone who didn’t attend the game didn’t see it!
How can MotD edit out such a clear cut attempt?
I actually have as much contempt for the ‘top 6’ bias of this useless programme as I do the Spurs fawning ref who officiated today!

Having lost momentum in the second half, Vydra came on and our whole game changed. He was everywhere and could easily have had a couple of goals. His second effort was only stopped by a great save. Had we had him on the field from the beginning, I think we'd have murdered Spurs.

Just set the extended highlights to record on Sky for this very reason. Pass looked sublime, but my first thought was that Vydra shouldn’t have cut back. Just take the shot!!!! The cut back has failed him more than it’s succeeded.

Wrong choice. He should have belted it the first time.
Great pass, indeed.

Agree he changed the game. Great to have a fast striker to bring on to play a tiring defence.
Disagree we’d have won by playing him from the start though. JRod & Wood were outstanding first half.

The biggest thing for me was the blatant penalty we were denied and the fact that the pundits didn't even mention it after the game. What is the point in VAR if something like that can be completely ignored, stonewall penalty if ever I saw one.

It’s only Burnley. It doesn’t matter. They also elided the part of Sean’s interview where he mentioned it(it is available on the BBC website). I can only presume it’s either because they’re sick of Dyche banging the drum about it, don’t want to talk about it, or a combination of both.

Always been a big fan of MOTD and watch it fairly religiously on a Saturday night. Over the past few months I’ve got to say that I’m getting tired of the lazy punditry and the way the highlights are edited to paint a pre-determined picture of the game.
In terms of chances created they made yesterday’s game look even despite us having 8 shots on target to their 2 (the other being the penalty). In last week’s bore draw against Newcastle they inexplicably failed to show by far the best chance of the goal when Rodriguez blazed over when 1 v 1.
The commentators are getting worse, the pundits are getting worse and the action that they show is getting worse. The programme needs a refresh big time.

The report in the Sunday Times is even worse than motd.
It's all about Mourinio, you wouldn't even know Burnley were playing in the totally biased report.
I can't believe one of the supposedly better papers employes such one sided reporters.

Haven't you noticed that every time Burnley produce a magnificent win this season, the story the next day (and the inane, vacuous punditry spouted by Big Ears and his chums on MOTD) are always about the crisis that the loss has created at the defeated team (or as yesterday in the team that somehow dropped a point at Burnley)? It's never about what a great performance was produced by Burnley (75,000 people / 20,000 spectators don't buy a lot of newspapers or TV subscriptions I suppose).
