Re: Remembering Ben
Only just read about the circumstances online now but remember being in a pub in Knutsford years ago and seeing a memorial picture on the wall. It was only small but seem to remember it was a profile type picture of him in Burnley kit. RIP

Re: Remembering Ben
I knew how many years it was because we called off our game at York and played it in late April on the night we won the 4th division. The lad would have been in his mid-40s now. Do they still have anything at the Turf in recognition? I think they used to.

Re: Remembering Ben
I think his close family and team mates used to visit the ground on the anniversary of his death. Saw a photograph of family, Harry Wilson(his coach) and Paul Weller and John Mullin from just a few years ago. Devastating for all concerned.

Re: Remembering Ben
Yes, it was extremely sad and shocking and our evening away game at York was duly called off, as CT says. What was quite awful (but I accept unavoidable) was to attend subsequent games at The Turf and see the patched up hole in The Longside roof.

That was what always struck me. An awfully sad episode in the club’s history.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2020 11:00 amYes, it was extremely sad and shocking and our evening away game at York was duly called off, as CT says.
