Villa beat us 2-1 at the Turf on NYD, signed Drinkwater six days later, got butchered 6-1 at home to City where Drinkwater made his debut, and have since picked up four points. We've picked up fifteen with one extra game played in that time. I'd say he's cursed, but in just the last eleven months he's been done for drink driving, got into an injury-causing scrap in a nightclub, and now this. Framed like that, he's a disgrace of a professional footballer and of no use to anyone at this point. The £10m he's still to pocket from Chelsea (contracted until 2022) might console him to some superficial extent, but people who pi$$ away their careers like this are usually pi$$ing away their life. It will hurt him in years to come if he doesn't address his attitude now. Needs help, if indeed he's willing to listen to anyone.

With the money mentioned already in the pot he's set up for life with or without a footballing career, invest the money well, property portfolio ect, & just retire you can effectively do what you want & live a life of relative luxury, it'll hurt him career wise if he's got aspirations to improve within the game, he's loaded he doesn't give a flying f*** in a rolling doughnut, if that's your definition of somebody urinating their life away that's a peculiar perspective, at 30 years old effectively being a millionaire & never ever worrying about money as a problem, I reckon over 95% of the working people face.

Although he should be set up for life, it wouldn't surprise me if, in a few years time, he ends up bankrupt. He wouldn't be the first and certainly won't be the last...Matthew Etherington and David James spring to mind.

My better half asked why results have improved and this was the reason I gave. No coincidence our form improved since Gibson and Drinkwater left.

True, footballers aren't renown for the IQ when it comes to money & not always money, always made me laugh reading a story in the Peter ridsdale book where Jonathon woodgate left his passport at home when at the airport thinking he didn't need it, think there was boarding a flight to turkey, long time since I read the book I think his agent or somebody advised him to keep his passport safe & it was literally in the safe at home.

Search function means it doesn't take hours to find that thread and considering some of the moronic comments made at the time it's worth reminding people that Dyche does actually know best a lot of the time.

Not that it will stop the usual suspects from having a cry anytime the club has a little blip.

No stupid, what I thought was he should be a good signing who would strengthen the squad and improve our midfield, which considering he had been a member of a team winning the league and being picked for his country previously wasn't hard to imagine. Crazy. He had the opportunity of A lifetime at Chelsea and let that slip.

He then had the opportunity to regain regular premier league football under a brilliant man manager and let that slip.

He then got saved from the scrap heap by a manager of a huge but underperforming club where he could’ve become a hero and he let that slip.

He clearly needs help. Maybe someone like Barton could help out. Problem is he will be a target wherever he goes in this country now.

He’s had a decent career, premier league winners medal and earnt lots of cash. But on the face of it seems he has some real issues that he needs to sort out of he isn’t to fk his life up in the way he has his career.

That premier league medal will seem like a long time ago.

Glad we didnt take that approach with Keith Treacey - lots of similarities there. Luckily we helped him out even when many fans would have thought he didnt deserve it.

Now I'm not trying to say Dyche is as good a manager as Fergie (yet) but isn't this exactly what Fergie used to do. No matter how big the name he wasn't afraid to get rid of those that upset the culture he wanted at the club?

I hope the numpties go back and read what they'd written, then hold their hands up. How often has time proven that SD knows what he's doing. I've fallen foul of it myself in the past, but not on the DD issue.

SD showed with Joey that he knows how to get the best out of a player. If hed given up on Drinkwater it wouldn't have been without trying. He's past helping, feeling sorry for himself for a career that fell off a cliff. I don't think he will ever get it back.

Despite anything that had happened previously, I was really pleased when we got him on loan and thought he'd prove to be a very good signing for us. Then came the night club incident and the long wait to see him in Premier League action. Dyche said all the right things about him and finally gave him that debut against Man City. Just a few days later we were beaten 5-0 at Spurs and Drinkwater remained on the bench for the entire game. That's when I came to the conclusion he wouldn't be staying and he never did play for us again. Dyche's comments on him were interesting but I don't think our manager has ever thrown a player under a bus in all the time he's been here and that's how I think it should be.

So, Villa for Drinkwater, and you would think he'd get his head down and play. He got his chance there and has started a few games. But if today's news is true, and there is nothing to doubt it, then he's clearly, at best, not helping himself. I don't know where he goes from here to be honest. I thought Patrick Bamford was one of the more disruptive loan players around but Drinkwater has taken it to a new level.

The article refers to him having trouble getting fit. Months at Burnley and not fit! He must have problems!

Jota was on the radar of a few clubs before he left Brentford for Birmingham. Always looked a decent player on his day( like anyone else, I suppose) but rarely gets an appearance for his current club. Drinkwater, Jota and Lansbury are an expensive non playing midfield trio although that might change soon.

I don’t think Lansburys a bad player at championship level, he did score a good goal (what should have been) think it was against palace but it was chalked off.
