I asked SD at a Q and A what would his biggest challenge.

SD said it would be working with players without his ability and adjusting his expectations but then getting the best out of them.

Looks like he might have cracked that.

Joey Barton will I believe become a great manager. He has the drive, the sheer will to win, the no nonsense type of character that makes Dyche great. And he is a born leader, he showed that with us, the best captain we never had. Good on the guy.

I was on the Turf when Barton made his first team debut, I can't remember against whom but he came he came on during a fairly average performance and transformed the game totally. His positional play, his forward passing (normally into space for players to run on to), his vision were all pure class. In my eyes, he is the best midfielder we've had since the glory days, including Defour, Marney etc.
He seems to be doing a great job at Fleetwood and I am pleased for him and hope he goes on to greater things, possibly becoming our manager one day, if Sean Dyche were to decide to leave us. Well done Joey keep up the good work.

I follow the Fleetwood and Cheltenham results due to Joey and Duffo being their respective managers, and they both seem to have that Dyche-like knack of grinding out results by the odd goal, and not losing too often. Never seen either team play so can't comment on the style of football but thought it interesting.

They both speak to Dyche regularly so continue to learn from him although two completely different characters.

I want Joey to do well, but wouldn't go near him as a manager of Burnley, especially at the level we're at. You can't have your manager being so unpredictable.

Two great signings and was Duff the best 25k Burnley have ever spent? I just loved Barton here. He kept his cool most times under extreme provocation when playing for us. Only Lincoln he lost it a bit. but only a bit in a game where Gudmundsson was 'done' and has, seemongly, never fully recovered.

Nope we still had to pay him a wage whilst he was here and whilst being a brilliant servant and a top bloke he was never at any stage one of our top 4 or 5 better players.

Id say paying nothing for Heaton was better value than Duff if you are gonna look at it in transfer fees alone.

Absolutely mate. He wasn't afraid to b*ll*ck anyone who he thought wasn't pulling their weight and yes, as and when the time comes (later rather than sooner though I hope) I would welcome the guy back as manager, sod all the over hyped and moaning so-called top managers, this guy will have what it takes for Burnley Football Club (but not quite yet - old Seany has a few years in him yet).

Fleetwood came down to Suffolk recently and did a job on Lambert's Ipswich, although the latter are bottom of the League current form league atm so that's not difficult. In the reverse fixture, Barton tried to undermine the opposition using mind games and trapping off about Ipswich in the media. They lost to Ipswich at home & after the game he found all the articles pinned to the away dressing room wall. This time he kept his gob shut and reversed the result. However you would think that he might have worked all that out beforehand.

Having seen them play and hold Sunderland to a draw recently I would say that with limited resources Barton has done a remarkable job, they defend like Burnley and but play differently when in possession as you might expect from the type of player Barton was himself.

Re future Burnley manager, I think that unpredictability is his biggest liability, you can see him punching the likes of Mourinho on the snout rather than laughing it all off like Sean does.

Barton has 16 points fro. 18, with only a 93rd minute equaliser for Sunderland at the stadium of light the only marker on otherwise a perfect run. He even had some banter in the post match interview with the Sunderland fans.

There were some very tricky matches in that run too
