Re: All weekend games behind closed Doors.
Yes, it's bullshit. In fact, in the health minister's statement this evening, he said that they were following the scientific approach and that science said there was no advantage to playing behind closed doors.
Two reasons were given. 1. Viruses die quickly outdoors so there is little likelyhood of it being passed on and even if it was, it would only be to a few people near the infected person, not the the whole crowd. 2. If 'Behind closed doors' matches were televised instead, people would pile into nice warm pubs where the virus would be passed on easily.
The minister also said that this approach may change as more people become infected.

The French and Spanish top two divisions are already due to go ahead behind closed doors.
I really don't think we'll be too far behind.

The minister said he was fully aware of what was happening in other country's but that Britain was being led by the science.
Re: All weekend games behind closed Doors.
I don't see there would be much point in closing sports grounds while leaving workplaces and shops open. It might marginally slow the spread, but surely it wouldn't make a big difference.
Possibly it might be as good a way as any to give vulnerable people every opportunity to self-isolate for the duration, so to speak, while allowing the less vulnerable to circulate freely, spread the disease quickly to get it over with, and possibly build up a "herd immunity" to some extent.
(That's just a thought, not a dogmatic statement.)

Re: All weekend games behind closed Doors.
The Times report SUGGESTS the football season will not be postponed, but instead matches will be played behind closed doors.
So it's just a suggestion at this stage? That's not what the thread headline says.
Perhaps if we had a few more facts on here, it would make more sense?

We have a training session tomorrow gearing up for it kicking into action at ours.
Luckily most if not all of us can work at home.
I suspect we will be told to do so from next week. I’m due out and about most of next week so not sure how that will affect things.
A lot of our customers are following suit. Ironically that’s a good thing for us as it means they need more of what we sell!

Re: All weekend games behind closed Doors.
Sad that it has come to this but not unexpected.
For me, play this weekend’s game behind closed doors...I get that it’s too late for the whole league to make suitable alterations.
We then have one more game (at home to Watford) before we have our next international break.
I would suggest that the international break should get postponed. If clubs are allowed to re-arrange their fixture before it, then that will give a window of three or four weeks with minimal disruption.
