Anyway, with three Leicester players now in isolation, the measure may well be brought forward. In fact, football may be suspended altogether.
I feel so sorry for the lower league clubs who may well go out of business. Next season's leagues may look very different.

Show me where I've speculated. I'm actually trying to stop speculation. If you don't know that, you haven't been reading my comments properly.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:37 pmJesus wept! Make yourself a hot milky drink and watch Bargain Hunt or something, take deep breaths and relax
Re: English football to be played behind closed doors
Not heard anything but in todays society litigation is always possible. Wouldn't put it past someone to sue the club if they caught the virus while attending the match, blaming them for organising an event where people could come into contact.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 11:54 amIn what sense would the club have a liability?
Not that I'm playing down the potential health risks, but it would be my decision whether to attend a football match, (even if advised not to do so), no one would be compelling me to attend.
Has there been mention somewhere of clubs having a risk of liability? (Genuine question, since it could impact on other areas of my social life).

What will happen for season ticket holders as regards refunds ?
There needs to be a statement from the club re next year as the renewal date is fast approaching.

Why would there be refunds? It's not the club's fault if games are to be played behind closed doors?
You could always try getting the money from the government? Good luck with that one.
I think we'll all just have to take it on the chin.
As for next season? Who knows?
Re: English football to be played behind closed doors
I wouldn't be surprised at all if they delayed the Euros until next summer now. With the 2022 World Cup not taking place in the summer it buys UEFA a bit of time.

They do, it's not really at your own risk, when it's icey across the league's, it's obligatory to grit certain exposed areas, (as a last resort if not postponed) it's public health first & foremost.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 11:54 amIn what sense would the club have a liability?

If a contract is frustrated (ie. impossible to perform) through no fault of either buyer or seller, and any money has already changed hands, the person who has got the money and hasn't provided the service has to pay it back.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 3:12 pmWhy would there be refunds? I'm not a lawyer. Perhaps you are? Either way, I won't be harrassing BFC for a refund. The loss of gate revenue will hurt them enough.dsr wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 3:27 pmIf a contract is frustrated (ie. impossible to perform) through no fault of either buyer or seller, and any money has already changed hands, the person who has got the money and hasn't provided the service has to pay it back.

Because they are not fulfilling their part of the contract which is to allow you to watch the games.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 3:12 pmWhy would there be refunds? It's not the club's fault if games are to be played behind closed doors?

Whether it’s their fault or not is irrelevant I would have thought.
Unless of course the club have built this into the terms and conditions...and even then you would think goodwill would come into play.

Scotland advising to cancel all events which have over 500 people in attendance - this isn't to say the same will be in England

The issue isn't reimbursing season ticket holders, it's the TV money. If the Premier League doesn't fulfill the fixtures and there's no product to sell then what do they do? If they give the money back to the TV companies they can't give it to the clubs but the clubs will still have to pay players wages. ITV digital all over again?

That is right, interesting she said they would be closed for an extended period of time (until the start of the new school year by the sounds of it) rather than just a week or 2

If flights or holidays are cancelled because of government advice you get a refund. Football shouldn't be any different.

Re: English football to be played behind closed doors
I'm no legal expert but read enough legal paperwork to see that infamous 'Act of God' addition. Which could make contracts null and void. I still don't see how stadium bans would make a hill of beans difference. As has been mentioned. PSG was played behind closed doors but they still turned up outside. A more logical and responsible approach, if they were to play behind closed doors would be to offer up broadcasting on all TV Networks for a fixed sum. Allow a trickle down effect of finances for lower league clubs who would suffer. I am sure I read somewhere that TV Revenue largely, if not completely covers Premier League income anyway in regards to fans. I don't know the best way around it but while we're all pretty worried about things. A bit of goodwill and common sense in broadcasting these games to all. May actually, in the long run; work out financially better. Sky/BT being understanding of the situation may lead to an increase long term in their subscriptions. All hypothetical of course. I just think I am equally as likely to get it at the corner shop off someone who hasn't washed their hands as sitting in a group of people who have.

So no plans to ban public gatherings for now.
Guess it’s going to come down to players now and if games are called off because of them.

Nope! I'm almost 62, fit, healthy and carrying on doing absolutely everything I was doing before I'd ever heard of this thing (and that includes washing my hands quite often because I was well brought up and I thought that's what we all did, all the time anyway!) I visit the gym most every day (a real source of all kinds of viruses allegedly) I haven't bought a single item in the supermarket that I wouldn't have bought normally (stockpilers are nothing short of embarrassing imo) I will go to BFC matches as long as there's a match to go to, I go to the pub, I go into cafes, I go out for meals, I go into town, I've barely broken stride and I am absolutely certain that even if I get this thing I'll have a bit of a cough and a cold and I ain't going to die. And if I'm wrong, then it's just tough, but I'm definitely not cowering behind my sofa pooing my undies over it.

I would assume if there is no football "next season" then we would all mostly have succumbed to the Armageddon and few hundred quid won't matter a bloody jot.
