Ideal scenario, Season cancelled NOW resulting in no title for the scousers and no promotion for Leeds.

The one thing people don't seem to understand about the possibility of cancelling the season is that there is no way on earth we can just start again next season in August.

If football does grind to a halt it's likely to be next year before any football is played again, and even then with plenty of trepidation.

European football bosses have come up with a sensational plan to postpone Euro 2020 for a year.

UEFA and the European Clubs Association will put forward their proposal to delay the tournament until 2021 at their emergency coronavirus video conference meeting next Tuesday.

But Mirror Sport can reveal the plan involves scrapping this summer’s tournament and cancelling the end-of-season international fixture window at the start of June.

They would then be able to reschedule any outstanding domestic league games, finish off any championships with La Liga and Serie A currently suspended because of coronavirus.

UEFA would also look to complete the Champions League and Europa League fixtures which are also in jeopardy because of the virus and countries being under lockdown.

Jesus wept! You’ve been filling the Corona thread with exactly that for days/weeks on end . Though of course the thread header is Twitter inspired supposition , I hadn’t realised you’d been sitting on a Cobra meeting all day. Make yourself a hot milky drink and watch Bargain Hunt or something, take deep breaths and relax

In what sense would the club have a liability?
Not that I'm playing down the potential health risks, but it would be my decision whether to attend a football match, (even if advised not to do so), no one would be compelling me to attend.
Has there been mention somewhere of clubs having a risk of liability? (Genuine question, since it could impact on other areas of my social life).
Negligence would have to be proved in order there to be liability....of course you're right...it is a nonsense to suggest the club would be liable...

Might be bad for us, but it'd be terrible for clubs like Accy Stanley, who regard income on the gate as
very important.
True.

No way we should be banning football or other sport in my opinion. Would be sensible to take some precautions though - anyone with symptoms an underlying health condition not to attend, mandatory hand sanitising before entry to the ground, etc.

Additionally, should anyone think of taking a club to court it would be virtually impossible to prove that the coronavirus was contracted within the stadium.
Even if you could prove that you had self-isolated for a week before the game it would be impossible to prove whether you picked it up on the way to the game or on the way home.

Scotland advising to cancel all events which have over 500 people in attendance - this isn't to say the same will be in England
That means 98% of Scottish football matches can proceed as normal.

Just been said on the news that shutting schools down wouldn't have any impact unless done for at least 3 months.
Going by that, if we start playing behind closed doors it could be at least 3 months before crowds are allowed back in.

In Tims defence he posted what BT and many news paper outlets suggested would happen. Nothing more or less. And still imagine it’s highly likely. Especially now Arteta is announced as infected.

No, I didn't have a bet with Tim.

The way my Cheltenham betting has gone I would of lost and there would of been empty stadiums for years.

I didn't want to jinx it.

Finish the season now, current positions stand and remaining games get added to next season.

Those relegated play the games the promoted teams had left and vice versa.

And I win £300 for Burnley finishing in the top 10

If that's the case, then someone needs to be taught the difference between seconds and minutes.

Primary school stuff really.

As for the football, he posted the headline as fact... no question mark or anything. It was for this reason that the thread was locked.

Coronavirus: UK government considering banning sporting fixtures, but not imminently.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/51859553

The major factor is freeing up the emergency services such as paramedics and police to combat this outbreak.and that's the argument Nicola Sturgeon has used to justify the Scottish Government's response.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/scotland/51860864

But the SPFL and the SFA are wary of the impact on their member clubs, who like the lower leagues in England rely heavily on matchday income to survive.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51840257

This shows the tough decisions between the welfare of the public on the one hand, and the potential economic hardship this could cause, and even some clubs possibly going to the wall.

But hounding individuals is enjoyable?
You have a strange definition of hounding... especially coming from someone who has trolled a board moderator for years!

Hounding?

Do you always believe the Daily Mail?

I used to like coming on here, to read points of view, even if the occasional poster's opinions were a little strange. However people posting fake news makes the experience less enjoyable... and that's a FACT!
Points of View  your on the wrong Board Pal!Robert Robinsons got to be dead and Anne Robinson must be in her Eighties ..you must sit in the Bob Lord. Thanks for following.
